President of his graduating class of 1978 at EVMS in Norfolk, Virginia, Dr. Jennings Jr. further trained during his internship at The Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, formerly known as Naval Hospital Portsmouth, in Portsmouth, Virginia. The center is known as the oldest continuously running hospital in the Navy Medical System. He then went on to complete his residency training at the Naval Regional Medical Center in San Diego, California.
Board certified in Dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology, Dr. Jennings Jr. is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, as well as a Diplomate of the National Board of Examiners and the American Board of Dermatology. Furthermore, he maintains professional memberships with the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, American Society for Cosmetic Surgery, American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery, International Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the National Psoriasis Foundation. in 2014, Dr. John L. Jennings Jr. has been inducted into The Leading Physicians of the World by the International ASDSAssociation of HealthCare Professionals (IAHCP). in his time away from work, he dedicates to playing golf and fishing.
