Working on my miles for the American Cancer Society challenge. Well tended track for walking!
Welcome back Waltham Fireworks
The field is very nice. There is no bathroom and the portable ones were in very rough shape. There aren't many points of entry and exit to the field area so you need to walk around.
Great track but could use some updating. There are sections where water pools up and the surface is sort of loose. Despite these, the track is really great and Waltham is lucky to have one such as Leary.
It's amazing place for workout as a member of gritper4formance.
This place is an athletic field, located between Lexington St and Bacon street, with in two minute drive from Waltham center. Place is neat and kept clean, however the views are not very spectacular, as it is surrunded by residential and industrial buildings/commercial yards and warehouses. City of Waltham holds their July 4th fireworks here, which can get pretty loud.
Nice track but don’t go alone after 8. There’s sketchy people there.
Track is in okay shape, but great setup with tons of bleachers.
The first time I went to Leary Field was in the nineties. There was a Scottish festival. Everything was highly organized and only perfection was allowed. It was painfilled and exact percision emanated into the air. When I moved to Waltham I learned more about the upkeep of the grass and track and why it is that only certain insects go there. If you are lucky enough to have the time to experience this Waltham Treasure, consider yourswlf blessed.
The track is decent to run in, and there are some other outdoor facilities. But not well maintained.
