Description

John R. Rogers High School is a four-year public secondary school in Spokane, Washington, part of Spokane Public Schools (District No. 81). Opened in 1932 in northeast Spokane, the school is named after John Rankin Rogers, the third governor of the State of Washington. The 90,000sqft school was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on January 7, 2011. In September 2009, extensive renovation was completed on the school, adding another 170,000sqft to the three-story Art Deco structure. Two movies have been filmed on location at the school: Vision Quest in 1984, and the thriller Hangman's Curse in 2002. Both movies included hundreds of current and former members of the student body of Rogers High School as extras, as well as former members of the Pirates championship wrestling team, including award-winning coach and social studies teacher, Ken Pelo.LocationJohn R. Rogers is located in the Nevada/Lidgerwood neighborhood, 3.25mi northeast of Downtown Spokane and about 1mi east of Northtown Mall and Division Street, the north-south corridor, which separates the city into east and west. While the school is about 2mi southwest of the Hillyard Historic District, it is often associated with the area, due to its close proximity to the former town and the site of the former Hillyard High School.

This school has it faults. But what's a high school without it's faults? I personally don't like Rogers because how most teachers through out my 4 years treated me and others who were innocent. Sophomore year the school didn't do anything about the fact that I got choked in a hallway where there is a security camera. Thanks Rogers now I can't trust men.
Good school. They administrators are constantly shoving themselves in when it's not needed so that was quite annoying. Other than that it's quite an okay school. Definitely changed their reputation a lot.
I'm a 2011 alumni I have to say as hard as high school was, it sure could have been a lot more difficult if I had gone somewhere else. I was a lazy student but looking back, I see now I could have done more, but my teachers did what they could to help me graduate on time and I thank them everyday for that. Thanks to them I walked, and now I'm in my fifth year of college with good grades and a future to look forward to.
I graduated from Rogers in 2008 and I had nothing but positive relationships with most of my teachers. Rogers prepared me for real life and I wouldn't be the person I am without the help and support from my instructors. Go Bucs!
I think it depends on the student and their commitment to school. I have had 2 children go here and they never had a problem and are very well educated.
This school definitely has its downs but the support you receive from staff is amazing. There's staff that are always there to talk to as well
if your child is doing Running Start you're on your own. The counselor in charge of that program is not good at communication at all.
This school doesn't so anything about fighting, harassment, bullying,.nothing. they really don't even care about half the students. This school is so awful, I'm considering switching to LC
They don't take the time to listen to what's going on and they aren't very helpful when it comes to problems outside of school. Wouldn't recommend Rogers. Not very welcoming.
I got jumped there 5 times for no reason and they expel me for "fighting" even though i was defending myself. This school sucks
