We hope you’ll find our practice offers the accessibility and personal commitment you look for from a dentist.
Dr. Ravera has been practicing dentistry since 1999 after graduating from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco, and comes from a family of health care providers, being the third generation of dentists in his family. Both his father, John Ravera, M.D. (Urology), and his uncle, Robert Ravera, DDS, have practiced in Newport since the early 70's and are now retired.
Dr. Ravera is proud to lead a personal service based practice where he and his staff are dedicated to both their patients and continuing education. They take the time to listen and answer patient's concerns with the most complete and up-to-date information. Dr. Ravera always makes himself available to his patients. The office utilizes the most current innovations in dental technology and uses state of the art equipment including digital radiographs (x-rays) which emit lower radiation, as well as intra-oral cameras and flat screen monitors for better patient education.
Dr. Ravera really likes to get to know his patients and make sure they feel comfortable and have the opportunity to address their concerns. That is why the first visit usually involves a consultation, if the patient prefers, where Dr. Ravera and the patient sit down in his office and get to know each other, allowing both the patient and Dr. Ravera to address as much information as possible. The rest of the appointment involves radiographs (if applicable), cancer screening, TMJ exam, perio (gum tissue) evaluation, as well as an intra oral hard tissue (teeth) exam. The findings are discussed with the patient using large monitors where the patients are allowed to have all their questions answered and Dr. Ravera's recommendations given.
In his free time, Dr. Ravera enjoys playing guitar, surfing, volunteering with the Flying Samaritans, travel (has been all over the world), and motorcycle touring.
