R. Todd Johnson, D.M.D., graduated from Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky, majoring in biology. Following college, Dr. Johnson earned a D.M.D. degree from the University Of Louisville School Of Dentistry. He has been practicing dentistry for almost twenty-three years.
Dr. Johnson operated a private practice in Pikeville, KY for eleven years, prior to moving to Owensboro, Kentucky. Having acquired much experience in the treatment of complicated cases, Dr. Johnson eventually practiced in Beverly Hills, California, and actually participated in treatment of some of the American Broadcasting Company’s (ABC) original Extreme Makeover patients. Dr. Johnson has also worked in Fortaleza, Brazil, as a Christian dental missionary, practicing restorative dentistry for an underserved population.
Dr. Johnson is actively involved in the Owensboro community. He has served two terms as Board President of the local The First Tee chapter of Owensboro, Kentucky, as well as several years as a First Tee coach. He also serves in several capacities at Macedonia Baptist Church and is a member of The Gideon’s International. He is married to Courtney and they have two children, Nick and Ella.
Dr. Johnson became interested in dentistry at a very early age. When he was ten years old, Dr. Johnson was in an accident that took almost eight years of surgeries and complicated procedures to rehabilitate his teeth. Dr. Johnson spent his late childhood years and nearly all of his teenage years being embarrassed by his smile, and became very familiar with the fears, anxiety, and helplessness one feels when going to the dentist. However, Dr. Johnson builds on and uses his own personal experiences to help patients have a better experience themselves. Dr. Johnson requires a very clean working environment, and his goal is to provide quality, gentle, and compassionate care.
Dr. Johnson is a member of the American Dental Association, the Kentucky Dental Association, the Green River Dental Association, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
