Johnstown station

Description

Johnstown is an Amtrak railway station in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, United States. Designed by Kenneth MacKenzie Murchison and built in 1916, the station is at 47 Walnut Street, north of downtown Johnstown across the Little Conemaugh River. Today, the station is served by Amtrak's Pennsylvanian, which operates once daily in each direction.Until 2005, Johnstown was served by a second daily train, the Three Rivers (a replacement service for the Broadway Limited), an extended version of the Pennsylvanian that terminated in Chicago. Upon its cancellation, the sole Pennsylvanian marked the first time in Johnstown's railway history that the town was served by just a single daily passenger train. The Pennsylvanian connects Johnstown to Altoona, Harrisburg, Philadelphia, and New York to the east and Greensburg and Pittsburgh to the west. Staffed ticket service is available for both daily departures.CamTran, the local public transit provider in the greater Johnstown/Cambria County area, has two routes that stop at the train station: Route 16 - ProspectRoute 18 - Downtown Shuttle The primary Camtran transit center is about one-half mile to the southeast of the Amtrak station. Greyhound buses also stop at the Train Station. Westmoreland County Transit Authority's Route 11 provides weekday service between Latrobe, PA and CamTran Transit Center.

The gentlemen we needed to deal with were absolutely great! They were polite and my friend was much more comfortable going by herself! Thank you!!!!
Never open when they are supposed to be. Very inconvenient
Yesterday my daughter took an amtrak train from Philadelphia to Johnstown like she always does and it was a mothers worst nightmare. I will try to make this as short as I can I apologize in advance for any grammar mistakes but I'm very upset, when I was waiting for my daughter on the platform to get off the train she never got off. Needless to say I was panicking I told the lady who worked there that was standing on the platform and she had told me that I had to talk to the conductor on the train. So I went to the conductor and told her my daughter never got off the train and the conductor responded well then she is not on the train then. I said look I no she is on this train I just talked to her about 30 minutes ago and she would never get off the train. I told her she was in business class could you please just take thirty seconds and go check and she said no because there was no one in business class. I then told her my daughters age, hair color what she looked like ect.. and asked again if she could please go check and she had said to me no because there was no one on this train that fits that description or age and told me again your daughter is not on this train. I had asked this conductor more than 4 times to check this train and she out right refused. I said what am I supposed to do I no my daughter was on this train she is now considered missing and she said I don't no what to tell you. To make a long story short the train left and the wonderful lady at the Johnstown station helped me as much as she could and my daughter called about 20 to 30 mins later to tell me she was on the train and had missed her stop because nobody came and announced it. She was terribly upset and apparently the same conductor that treated me poorly treated my daughter the same way blaming her for the whole incident among other things. So I was told I had to drive to Latrobe to pick up my daughter who was dropped off at the Latrobe station and was sitting there alone in strange surroundings at seven at night , because it was an unmanned station and because of this conductors laziness and lack of ambition to do her job. I just want to say that I never want to feel this way again for the rest of my life because people talk about there child going missing or not knowing where they are but when you actually experience this for yourself it is the most dreadful heart wrenching thing that could ever happen to a mother I no this experience only lasted for about thirty minutes but they were the longest minutes of my life I honestly felt like I was going to die. I thank God that she was ok and that everything worked out but I now have a new found appreciation for what anyone, mother or father or anyone for that matter goes through when something like this happens. I also found out that this same conductor did the same thing to someone's child the night before and there child ended up in the whole way in Pittsburgh. It just goes to show that people don't learn there lesson the first time and that this conductor should clearly not be working in this job.
Sat at station for an hour and a half. Decided bus wasn't coming when it hit an hour after scheduled time. Called customer service six times and noone could answer any questions or do anything for me. Last man yelled at me when I said my eticket didn't have a confirmation number, only a reservation number. I hope to never need to deal with this company ever again.
I never give 5 stars, but the Station crew AND the Pennsylvanian Train's on-board crews are the best. Station agents are expected to ticket, get Station ramps and platform levels ready rain or snow. Train crews are efficient and work non stop.
I love using Amtrak, but would love more lighting at the station for winter arrival.
The lady who is the station master is extremely friendly!
Very eye opener off what happened very sad but beautiful town to walk through definitely go on the incline and eat at the restaurant at the top eat on the balcony over looks the town awesome
The staff is super friendly and informative. They even let me know I can reserve tickets to save on last second fees by just calling ahead.
I'm so sick of spending extra hours on the train DO NOT count on Amtrak to reach your destination on time
