Dr. Jon McDonald graduated Magna Cum Laude from University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 2005, where he received Honors in Research. His professional awards include The Southwest Academy Award for Restorative Dentistry and The Southwest Prosthodontic Society Award and The American Equilibration Society award for his performance in the Science of Occlusion and Temporomandibular Joint Function. He practiced in Utah for 4 years.
Previous to that, Dr. McDonald attended Brigham Young University on an academic scholarship, named to deans list, and received a BS in Zoology. While attending dental school, he was awarded the William Dickerson and the OKU 4 year scholarships. He is a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon national dental honor society. He is a member of the American Dental Association, New Mexico Dental Association, and the Santa Fe Dental Association.
He grew up in Utah where he met and married his wife, Leslie. They have two children, Kate and Cam. They enjoy time together and being outside. Dr. McDonald's personal interests are road and mountain biking, reading, skiing and running.
In 2009, he and his family moved to Los Alamos and he acquired the practice of Dr. Ortiz and Moss in March of 2009. He said, "We are happy that Dr. Ortiz continues to work two days a week."
