The Bailey House was built in 1868 and became the first home in the City of Whittier in 1887. It is named after Quaker founders Jonathan and Rebecca Bailey, who lived there from 1887 to 1894. Guided tours of the house take approximately 45 minutes.
The Bailey House showcases what it was like to live in Whittier in 1887 when the town had just begun. At the very beginning of Whittier's history there was no electricity or running water. Come see what it was like to live in a time before television and convenience stores. We are open for free walk in tours on Sundays from 1-4pm. We also hold scheduled tours throughout the week for groups of 10 or more. To set up a scheduled group tour call the Museum at (562) 945-3871.
