Jonathans Restaurant

Excellent!! Had the crab chips as an appetizer and shared an onion soup. Both were outstanding but the onion soup was the best I ever had. Can’t say enough about the flavors. My dinner was spot on. By far my favorite place to go in Northeast PA. Can’t be the view too, right next to the lake.

My wife and I went to Jonathan‘s to celebrate our 28th anniversary. When we arrived to a beautiful spacious dining area with windows that overlooks the lake, we were seated at the furthest, dark, back corner of the dining hall that smelled of old beer and cigarettes. The waitress took our order, and that is the last time that we saw her for the entire evening. The drinks were great. The bread was stale, and the owner came over and apologized and brought us another basket of bread. When we wanted a second round of drinks, I had to go to the bar to get the owners attention in order to get a second round of drinks because our waitress is nowhere to be seen. When our food arrived, my duck had the consistency of jerky my wife’s crab cakes were burned black on the bottom. We both had carrots on our plate and over the boiled carrots was poured pancake syrup that pretty much permeated the entire meal. My wife ate her meal, mine wasn’t edible. We were at a Jonathan‘s restaurant in Wilkes-Barre several times and it was extremely good. This reincarnation at Harvey's lake is most definitely not worth the ride. The owner came over. He was nice. He was gracious. He took the duck off the bill, but the entire meal was a disaster.

Our waitress was the worst....we sat downstairs....she got our drink orders wrong and was more interested cruising her cell phone at the bar instead of helping us. We had to wave her down each time we needed her. Initially we were the only customers down there....so there was no excuse. With that she yelled from the side of the bar...." Loudly she yelled...."Do you want drink? There were four of us at the table. Never checked with us to see how our appetizers were and had a very bad attitude. I have her name....if the owner wants to re-train her. It was my sister's birthday...thank God the food was great.I want this local restaurant to succeed.

Great service. A really nice treat to get half a duck instead of just a duck breast. A little too sweet but very enjoyable nonetheless. Key lime pie was pretty decent too!

My 22-year-old son took me out for dinner for my birthday last night. He chose Johnathans since we live at the lake and haven’t been there since they opened under new management. When we were seated, he looked at the menu and realized it was beyond his budget. We had ordered some drinks, and then I told him we will just explain the situation and leave. So when the elderly waitress came back to take our order I quietly explained what the situation was. She said oh I understand. And then she looked straight at my son and pointed at him and said, why don’t you work harder? Needless to say he was embarrassed. I was embarrassed. It was very awkward. So that will be the last time we will go to Johnathans.

My wife and I stopped here for the first time. Our initial impression upon entering the building was that it had really neat architecture. The restaurant is on the first floor. When you enter, walk straight down the hall and it is on the right. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted very quickly and in an extremely friendly manner. The gentleman took our coats and we were quickly seated. The inside of the restaurant is very cozy and romantic. We did notice that there is a large artwork picture of Kramer from Seinfeld above the fireplace, which was pretty neat. There is also a very large window facing River Street which gives you a very nice view when eating. We were quickly greeted by our waitress in a friendly, welcoming manner. While waiting for our dinner, we were provided fresh bread and butter. The bread was delicious. For appetizers, my wife and I both got the Colossal crab with butter and Old Bay. It was delicious. For our main meals, my wife had gotten the crab cake and I had gone the filet mignon. My wife said that her crab cake was extremely tasty and well prepared with plenty of crab and very little filler. My filet was done perfectly. It was seasoned to perfection, and very moist and tender. I've been trying to find a restaurant who can cook a filet like another local restaurant which we love. Until this time, no one has even come close. I would rate Jonathan's filet right on par with this other local restaurant. The dinners came with a choice of potato. My wife had gotten the baked potato which was delicious and I had gotten the steak fries which were also delicious. They were a little crunchy on the outside but soft and moist on the inside. The meals also came with a vegetable, which were grilled mixed vegetables. They were cooked and seasoned perfectly. Overall, the owner and workers of Jonathan's should be very proud because they have provided an excellent dining experience. We will definitely be back! Also, as a side note, you can park in the parking lot to the left of the restaurant even though it says permit parking only. The worker said it was okay to park there. Not only the best restaurant in this area, but the best in the WORLD! Every time we go it gets better than the last time. They make you feel like you are home! Trust me, you MUST try Jonathans!

Hubby and I went for dinner, I had crab cakes & he had fish. Our dinner was wonderful. We will make it our weekly date night place. A+A+A+A+A+

I consistently have a good meal here with creative menus that include a delicious strawberry soup with puff pastry and a drizzle of chocolate for dessert! Phenomenal! Great service with a luxurious atmosphere are to be expected here. It’s a beautiful treat to dine here in style and taste.
