Best real fresh Italian restaurant. Family owned...NOT a chain! All food is freshly made no cans here!

First time here. Thought we’d try some place new. Food was pricey even though you get a lot. Server wasn’t too helpful... she could have said that the appetizers we ordered were way too much for 3 people, especially when they would not be good reheated. Server was also very slow. Quaint little place but I’ve had better food. Also very dark, not well lit & my mom couldn’t see anything she has bad eyesight.

My family loves eating here. We go every year for my son-in-laws birthday. It's a tradition. They always take extra steps to accommodate all of our needs. Birthday cake etc. The staff is amazing and the food is fabulous. Highly recommend. You won't be disappointed..

I went with my grandmother today, and we were seated comfortably and quickly, she had been there about 20 odd years back but this was my first time, I had got the Fettuccine Alfredo chicken, with a side Italian salad, it was pretty good, the chicken was nice and tender and the noodles were cooked to perfection, and the Alfredo sauce was nice rich and creamy. The Italian dressing on my salad was amazing! It was a bit "watery" but the taste made it absolutely fine. They also served bread and butter as you wait, and the bread was nice and fluffy and could tell it was fresh. My grandmother got a dish I can't remember, but she had sautéed mushrooms on it, and holy crap they were the best mushrooms I've ever tasted I kept asking for more off her plate aha. I would highly recommend this place. The employees were also friendly and helpful, you can tell that they were a bit overwhelmed when lunch time came around, but they were still on top of the service.

Every time we come here the food is amazing!!! and enuf to feed two and take leftovers for the dog. We always get the special and share it, but add a salad. The best waitress is Melissa on the weekend, I can't find anything to complain about, even the prices are reasonable.

So I headed out for a nice family dinner it has been 5yrs since I last ate at Joseph's Italian restaurant. I received my main dish cheese tortellini they tasted as if they were just defrosted and had lukewarm sauce poured on them...very disappointed at the care given to my food seemed in a rush to have us exit I mean being asked if we needed to-go boxes 8 times in 5 min is like a signal flare not to mention as a family restuarant the food should arrive at same time I remember when it was made to order not frozen defrosted and sauced. Most people would ask if something is wrong with dish as soon as asked to remove if it is a full plate my family's plates were enjoyed at least so 10% sufficed.

The pizza dough or crust on the bottom was like it was rebaked. Now topping was good that is was extent very unlikely that we would go back for Pizza.Especially the fact that I drove to pick it up. It seems as thought by this that it had been made in-advance was not freshly baked just topped with spinach pesto sauce and chicken They didn't trick us my wife is a head cook nice try Joseph

Although they have been opened many years, they are actually hidden to most. Great lasagna, great fettuccine! If you have been to Olive Garden, stop and try Joseph's. You'll be glad you did! Give me a comment once you have eaten there. Mr."G"

Probably the best place for Italian food in Bakersfield. Unfortunately that doesn't say all that much as IMO there are no excellent or even very good Italian restaurants here. There are other more expensive Italian restaurants in Bakersfield with okay food -- nothing memorable. But the food at Joseph's is pretty good, the service somewhat perfunctory, and it's really inexpensive. The salad that goes with the meal is better than average as is the soup option and I think you'll like most of the pasta dishes. Haven't tried their pizza or meat dishes, but I've lived here for several years and most of the locals like this restaurant for good inexpensive Italian food.
