I founded this group as a means of utilizing my own experience as a traumatic brain injury survivor to support you guys. Contact me and we'll go from there
My TBISN group is unique in that we provide support to those with any type of brain-injury that has/or will have long-term effects. As the facilitator of,"LIVE for TODAY BRAIN-INJURY" group, my major long-term goal is to identify each of our members unique skills and talents that will can match them with equal-opportunity employers (paid and/or volunteer services). I am a traumatic-brain injury survivor myself and was able to utilize my residual skills to adapt to other fields of work. Having had worked as a Job Coach for folks with mental and/or physical limitations, and as an adjudicator for SSA for 4 years prior to the onset of my head injury, my knowledge of every existing impairment within each of the 11 body systems was rather extensive!
My head injury involved the explosion of an extremely large malignant brain tumor within the temporal-parietal center of the brain. The frontal right-hemisphere tumor was excised during a 13-hour operative procedure in 2/02. Every morning I wake up and thank God just for having made it a couple years post 1-year chemo and 30 days of radiation treatments, let alone being here upright and sucking air approximately 13 years later, as I formulate and compose this description.
My short-term memory is limited, however my long-term memory remains close to 100% intact, hence not merely enabling me to comprehend the effects of a Traumatic-brain injury, yet to experience many similar limitations and emotional effects that countless other TBI survivors also must endure
We are currently in the very beginning stages of support-group formation. Any suggestions are welcome here on Face Book, on Twitter, and of course on the website: livefortodaybraininjurysupportgroup.org.
Any feed back and/or creative ideas are welcome. You may also contact me via Craig Silicia, on his International network!
