This is a beautiful and peaceful place to relax. We went to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we loved it. The rooms are spacious enough, and honestly the bathroom was almost the same size as the room. We had a view of the river from our room, and enjoyed about a 2hr long wine and cheese sunset cruise. The staff were attentive and polite when I was on the phone and when we were in person. Dinner was delicious at their restaurant, my wife had the crab cakes and I had a filet rare of course and it was all prepared beautifully. We wanted to go back before we even left. Highly recommend
The Tides inn was one of the best resorts and hotels we have stayed at in many years. The Inn itself and the surrounding grounds are absolutely great, they are old but modernized very tastefully and have everything you need, from a heated pool, to a riverside restaurant, fire pits in several locations, a beautiful walking path along the river. Most importantly it’s the wonderful staff! You can tell that management cares and takes care of the hotel staff, everyone makes you feel absolutely welcome, all the way through your stay from check in to check out. When you arrive you are welcomed at the check-in area out front with Robert your bell man, he helped us with our luggage from our vehicle and got us to our room helping us at check-in. At the front desk were Myia and Claudia, so welcoming, so full of information and you could tell they were proud to work there. They also had plenty of information not just about the Inn and all the amenities but the local area, it’s a small town so this was very helpful. Housekeeping was amazing, keeping your room clean and tidy, the entire in, public restrooms, public areas and the grounds are immaculate. We visited the beach side restaurant, Fish Hawk, there Brian and Chris took very good care of us for food, drink and keeping the beach side fire pit going all night. Then in the main dining room, the Chesapeake, the staff is very attentive and make sure you were taken care of, CC our waiter was so professional and took care of everything we needed and made sure our food was properly prepared, really went the extra mile. We then took our night walk along the well lit wooden river path, the full moon was shining and it was just so absolutely beautiful. Returning to the Inn for a nightcap, we visited with Frank and Tony at the bar in the Chesapeake, both, excellent bartenders , Not just knowing their drinks but knowing how to take care of people as well, their experience and professionalism comes through, for this price point of an resort inn we have never experienced better in our entire life, I highly recommend the tides inn in Irvington.
My wife and I had a fantastic time at the Tides! My wife is 9 months pregnant and said her massage was the most comfortable she's been during her whole pregnancy. The pool, the outdoor seating, the views, and the fitness center were all highlights tooRooms: 5/5
I’m glad I decided to bring my wife here for the first time to celebrate our 15 year anniversary. This is southern hospitality at its finest only 3 hours away from Washington DC. There were a couple of hiccups on our room the first day there, however they were resolved and ultimately our trip remained 5 stars. This place is refreshing not just because of the beautiful grounds and relaxing atmosphere, but because of the hardworking courteous staff! You can tell everyone that works here is treated well by management. The standouts to us were at the front desk. Mayai and Claudia are absolute gems to this resort. So helpful and friendly and you can tell they were not just “doing a job” but went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied. Also Robert the bellman deserves much praise for helping us out, even taking time out of his duties to show us around the resort and give much needed helpful information. Again, something he didn’t have to do but he went above and beyond his duties. Because of my experience with this staff, we have decided to return. I hope management sees this and finds a way to reward these staff members because they are definitely a positive asset to this resort and provide a wonderful interaction the public.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Tides Inn. The customer service at the resort was impeccable from start to finish. We took advantage of the bikes that were available for guest and the on-site golfing. The food was great and my fiance tried the She Crab soup as recommended at the Chesapeake restaurant and he said it lived up to the hype. The views in our room were top notch and the grounds were maintained. We did the oyster excursion and learned alot about oysters and their ecology. This was a birthday trip for him and he loved it. Rooms: Our room was spacious, clean and had a balcony. Nearby activities: There are several things to do on-site like golf, swim, go to the beach and roast smores, board games or ride bikes. Food & drinks: Several on-site places to eat and there are restaurants within biking and walking distance.
The rooms with a waterfront view are amazing. Customer service was exceptional. Safe was extremely informed and gracious. The restaurants were great. Definitely we will return to enjoy the solitude.Rooms: 5/5
Wonderfull full service resort..great restaurant and service with a spectacular view of the cove leading to Rappahannock River and Chesapeake Bay. Wonderfull area to explore, lots of great stores and small cafes... Resort offers all, water sports, pool, Par 3 Golf Course for fun and close to Golden Eagle Golf Course a full Par 18 spectacular course. Visit and enjoy the relaxed Bay Experience.
My husband and I had an amazing weekend at the Tides Inn. We planned a little “baby moon” weekend and our expectations were exceeded. The property is beautiful, the food was amazing at both the Chesapeake Room and Fish Hawk, but above all the staff members were amazing. Amy at reception was so welcoming upon our arrival and had a special treat to celebrate our our baby moon which was very memorable. I also had a wonderful mother-to-be massage at the spa. Highly recommend The Tides for a weekend getaway from D.C. - we couldn’t have asked for a better experience!
We drove 50 miles each way to celebrate Mother's Day at this very special place. The setting on the Rappahannock River and the atmosphere of the dining room did make the occasion special. The fried oysters appetizer was just perfect though the jumbo prawns entree was just good. She crab soup and prime rib were also excellent. Very polite and friendly service was also a plus. Be prepared for some high end prices, the dining experience was worth it.
Scenery and service is bar none the best in the Chesapeake Bay area. If anyone wanted to experience the Bay at its finest, this is the way. Plenty of wonderful things to do on site, the food especially dessert is 5 star, and the amenities are first class. We live in Hampton Roads and stumbled on this place after living here for 7 years. Will come back for our anniversary every year as long we live here. Do yourself a favor!
