JP Green School is self-directed learning center for children. We garden, grow and cook food, build things, and learn science and sustainability. All-day classes for homeschoolers. Rolling admissions all year. See jpgreenschool.org
What is JP Green School?
We're a "free school" based at an urban homestead in Jamaica Plain (Boston). We teach urban farming, cooking, green building, botany, and biology to kids ages 4-10, with an emphasis on freedom and play in nature.
Our relaxed, student-driven style gives young people a safe space in which to determine their own path forward. A blend of structure and freedom, mentoring and self-driven inquiry, characterizes the atmosphere.
We do almost everything outdoors, with creativity and fun as our compass. With a visceral, attuned style of mentoring, we teach gardening, green building and cooking. Beneath these activities are the goals of fostering knowledge of biology, botany, and evolution, as well as a deep love of nature. Warmth and respect are the only rules here: for students, mentors, nature, and the larger community.

We provide alternative education that is local, nature based, and financially accessible to all families. We grow young people into resilient members of resilient communities through self-directed, play-based education.
