My husband and I were both treated at JTDMH this summer. Together we were in ER 4 times. I can say we had excellent care each time. The nurses were caring and proficient. Physicians addressed all our needs. My visit was accident related,my husband had infection post-surgical and admitted.
This Hospital used to be a great place for people with injuries and illnesses. Now I wouldn’t take my dog there! So many errors and apologies! I feel bad for the good people that still have to work there. The bottom line is the most important thing to whoever owns the Grand Lake Health Systems!!! No regard for patients or workers. Please make sure you are taken somewhere else if you need true emergent care!! Otherwise had a good attorney on speed dial!! That one star is just so I could post a review and a warning!!
No one ever communicates effectively. Have used this hospital since I was little and not once have I had a good experience with any of the departments.
Nurses were good. Multiple times the aides completely ignored my call light or requests. I was in there for low oxygen and asthma and my room was freezing and that is very bad for asthma. As an aide myself i would be bringing in warm blankets every 2 hours on rounds but i did not receive that from the aides. I requested broccoli for lunch and dinner at 8:30am one day, and did not receive them until 30+ minutes after my lunch and dinner were served. I even reminded them after lunch I would like that with my dinner, and still wasn’t with my dinner.
We had our son here on Tuesday the 6th for belly pain. They tested for covid, flu and RSV. All negative. They did a X-ray, no blood work or anything else. Comes in and says he has constipation and sends us home! Wednesday night took him Coldwater ER and he needed transfer to Dayton Children's for SURGERY! The Dr told us multiple times he was fine! Yes he really was huh! Never again will we step foot in this ER. Our daughter needed transfer last year because they said she had a virus and didn't.
Took hubby to Urgent Care. We were seen in a timely manner, they were busy!! He got a chest xray, swabbed for Covid and Influenza, both were Negative! We got a diagnosis, then left to pick medication up at the pharmacy Very professional care.
Er team does not care to get off their behind to run testing to properly diagnose patients conditions I feel like you could arrive in the er impaled with an object and they would send you home with Tylenol and tell you they can't figure out what's causing the pain good lord what's happened to medicine and ppl who get in the medical field because they actually care about patients and their well-being! I mean it's like taking your car to a mechanic because you ran out of gas and him telling you you need a whole new car
So I had to get x-rays Doctors orders on my arm and $550 later. I still have my issue with my tennis elbow and it just cost me a weeks pay check for X-rays. I would not recommend going to this place ever. They charge so much more than other places and you pretty much have to be homeless to get any kind of financial aid. I truly believe this hospital should be investigated for Insurance fraud.
Went in friday night with my 8 year old child because she was running a high fever of 103.3, got into a room the nurse was very polite and sweet she checked my daughters temp and oxygen said that Dr Kyle Anderson would be in shortly...he said with her symptoms a high fever he would test her for Influenza a and b if those were negative he would send it out to be checked for covid and it should be back in 3 to 5 days...they didn't check any other vitals, he sat on his chair and put his foot up on the bed, never came near me or my daughter and neither did the female who was in the room with us. Once the Influenza came back negative he said I'm pretty sure she has covid, gave her tylenol and sent us home....today she 4 days later an urgent care visit and now an er visit to st ritas I find out she's got a uti...this could have been getting treated for 4 days now and this could have ended up a lot worse. I'll never take my children or anybody I know here ever again.
I give 2 stars for the overworked nurses. I was in for out-patient foot surgery. I have never been treated in such manner. They promised a pain pump to keep the severe pain in my foot. It never worked. The medication leaked out all over my bed and leg. I told nurses about it, they changed my bed and finally just placed a towel under my leg. The head anestesia doctor looked at it said it was fine. My pain was terrible. It took a while to get a nurse but that was because the limited nursing staff. I will never go back again even for emergency care which sucks but that's another story.
