JBWS's mission is to increase awareness, understanding, and appreciation of estuarine ecosystems through education, research, and stewardship.
Welcome to the Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary Facebook page managed jointly with the Friends of Jug Bay - a non-profit organization that acts to preserve the Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary and support its education and research programs.
The Sanctuary is operated by the Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks, and is a component of the Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, Maryland. It includes over 1600-acres and 12 miles of trails. Habitats include forest, meadow, and one of the largest freshwater tidal wetlands on the East Coast.
We welcome public visitors from 9am-5pm on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. We also welcome inquiries from community and school groups for our education and nature programs. For more information, visit the Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary website at www.jugbay.org.
