Julie currently serves on the Board of Trustees for NAHU as Regional Vice President.
Julia spent the first ten years of her health insurance career with Aetna Life Insurance Company in Hartford, CT, working in field sales support and subsequently in the home office Underwriting and Marketing departments. She relocated to Massachusetts in 1984, where she established direct marketing and sales for a self funding TPA. Since 1987, Julia has worked for the Sylvia Group as an Account Executive for the agency’s employee benefits clients. Julie currently serves on the Board of Trustees for NAHU as Regional Vice President.
In addition to her study of foreign languages at American International College, Julia has pursued many professional designations in insurance. She is a Registered Health Underwriter (RHU), Certified in Long Term Care (CLTC), and a Licensed Insurance Advisor (LIA) in addition to completing courses in Consumer Driven Health Care, Self Funding and Wellness. Julie’s expertise in group insurance helps clients of the Sylvia Group implement benefits programs that meet their business and financial goals, reduce administrative burden, and deliver value to their employees.
Julia has been part of the leadership of the Massachusetts Association of Health Underwriters (MassAHU) since 1998, as board member, Past President and State/Federal Legislative Chair. She has also served on NAHU’s Long Term Care Working Group and currently serves on the national Legislative Council. She is a frequent speaker locally and nationally on health reform and health insurance topics, presenting to human resource and insurance professionals, Chambers of Commerce, business and civic groups. She is currently the chair for the Southcoast Worksite Health & Wellness Collaborative.
