Welcome to the Junior Friends of the Library! We're working hard on revamping our program to be more creative, educative, and fun! So please keep updated on our new additions to the program such as our TILT volunteering program for teens and our InBeTweens volunteering group for tweens!

Want to join then drop by or call the Glen Carbon Library and ask for a youth representative!

Not sure? Then feel free to drop in on some of our events or our TILT/InBeTweens meetings that will be held on the first and third Thursday of the month!

One of my all time favorite places in town. It's a beautiful library with a cozy fireplace. The staff are wonderful and the programs are inclusive and fun. It's close to a park and the awesome bike trails in the area. It's worth a visit!
We love to read. Let me start by saying that. I enjoy a good library where I can come and just grab a good book and enjoy. But I also like a place where I can come and let my kids do the same. My kids are 15, 4, 2 and 8 months. I feel like a library should also be a good meeting place whether that’s to come and use the computer, study in peace, connect, do research - all the things. This is that place. It’s a one family shop. They have a great variety of books and awesome displays. I also enjoy and appreciate the private rooms and best of all they have activity boxes that you can check out but also use there while you’re at the library. We love it and I feel like this library is probably under utilized. Grateful to have a library like this minutes from my home.

Cracker barrel rocked my world. The girls were so kind, and I got take out. It was GREAT. Made my husband very happy
This library gets too political. I prefer the troy library over this one.
Kid friendly and staff is fantastic. The best library I’ve ever been to as far as trying to find what you want. If they don’t have a book they’ll track it down somewhere else and get it for you. They’ve got one of the better kids/young adult sections I’ve seen in a smaller library. They also use the Hoopla app giving you 5 free “rentals” a month for ebooks, audiobooks, movies, etc. If you live in Glen Carbon and haven’t been you’re missing out.
We went to the library today. There are no chairs to sit in and read. When i asked if there was any seating available to sit and read the librarian responded rudely "no. theres no seating available. We want to discourage people from sitting." Well thats obvious. So much for the library being a peaceful quite place to read! 2 adults and 2 children completely masked. Sad this little library used to be wonderful and family friendly. Would NOT recommend!
Great small library! It's very cozy in the winter with a fire place and plenty of seating. Free wifi and a few private study rooms. There are 3 pokestops accessible from inside.
Recently rated Best Small Library in America, the Glen Carbon Centennial Library is a warm, welcoming place with a good collection for a small library, a great staff, and a wonderful variety of programs for adults and children of all ages.
Small library with a big heart. I love coming in and just browsing sometimes. Location is so convenient too right by the park
