The Junior Woman's Club of Rutherford is a non-profit volunteer organization of women, working together for the betterment of their local, state and global communities.
We meet the third Tuesday of every month (excluding July and August) at 7:30 pm at the Woman's Club in Rutherford, 201 Fairview Avenue.
The mission of the JWCR is to make a contribution. It's a forum for giving back, helping those who have less and donating time in meaningful ways. Members are encouraged to choose areas that interest them and contribute whatever they can in support of that cause.
Among the local and international causes we've helped are the Rutherford Food Pantry; 55 Kip Center (our local senior center); Center for Hope and Safety (a domestic violence shelter); the Rutherford Public Library, the Rutherford PBA and Volunteer Fire Department; Heifer International; and Operation Shoebox.
In addition, we sponsor scholarships for two local high school seniors and provide a system of support and encouragement for our members and the community through events such as:
Our signature events include the annual Snack with Santa and spring Ladybug Festival & Release. In addition, we:
• Create and donate baskets for teachers and library staff during teacher appreciation week
• Create gift baskets for children at a domestic violence safe house
• Sponsor a soldier serving our country
• Run the local spelling bee
• Operate a care calendar to provide meals for members who have experienced a serious illness, death in the family, or the birth of a baby
Our members also enjoy:
• Monthly Book Club
• Girls Nights Out
• Children's talent show (at our June meeting)
• Access to a list of local babysitters
All are welcome. Please email [email protected] for more information.
The goal of the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs is to enhance the quality of life within our respective communities and state by transforming public interests and concerns into meaningful projects and programs; to afford our members opportunities for the development of individual skills, talents and abilities; and to serve as a grass roots volunteer resource in New Jersey communities.
