Students/Faculty: Don't get your passport done here. They screwed up our application one document was missing and we had to cancel the trip Paid $400 for 2 passports only one arrived. This is a place where you pay for them to help you - they tell you what is needed and send the application off for you. We used them because of lack of time and thought they knew how to do it. We were wrong. This place pretends to be strict but our passport applications were not correctly prepared. No offer of their service fee refund was made after the passport did not arrive. They just blame others. The worst thing was they did not seem to understand why we were so upset cancelled international flight for a family I mean who would not be upset!?? But this is a culture where emotions are not allowed, just repress everything and stay calm yes this does not surprise me . Anyway my advice is to go to the post office or another acceptance facility libraries court houses post offices instead. Just try to read the forms and instructions and do it yourself. They never even apologized or showed any empathy for our situation. No customer service skills at all. They also are very defensive and unprofessional and do not seem to know how to deal with customers or even to listen. We lost $2000. Tears. Justified Anger. Customer service in most places has gone down hill, this place is no exception. I expected more from K-state. At the very least we should have received an apology and full refund for their fees. Just remember - if you want something done right - do it yourself especially these days.
Jen is absolute amazing. Went to apply for 3 passports and she was very patient and knowledgeable throughout the entire process.
The Student Union is large and Airy and bright and delightful. They have all kinds of different seating arrangements and you can plug in just about anywhere. They have a good variety of restaurants and food available, especially coffee from radinas. And best of all they have ice cream from Call Hall
Me and my family really enjoyed ourselves. K-State Open House over exceeded our expectations. Everyone was nice and pleasant, and really made us welcome. Most of all they made us feel like family. My son said that this will be his 2nd home. Have a great and bless day to all.
I have not been in the student union since 1997. Walked through with my daughter who is looking at different colleges, Wow, what an improvement. I was glad to see the bowling alley survived with the improvements. The biggest negative,, Whoever decised it was a good idea to put up a parking garage to block the entire view of the union absolutely had no vision. What an eyesore.
Great study/hangout spot. I come to get some reading done and have lunch between classes fairly often. Staff is always super friendly and helpful. WiFi connection needs serious work just like every other building on campus. Parking garage is wonderful but if your a student with a parking pass like myself you’re probably not going to get a spot unless you get there before 9am cause it fills up quick. Also the open 24hrs thing is misleading. Yes the building is open 24 hours, but staff will come around about 10pm and kick everyone studying out for the night. It’s empty from then till daylight except for the occasional architect wandering home from studio at 4am. Ever since Hale closed I’ve been hard pressed to find an open table or booth most of the time.
The union is useful for a place to rest, study, and hold events. The only issue I have is that outside of its walls you get bombarded with all kinds of silliness ranging from political graffiti on the ground to groups and organizations looking to chat about...whatever. i guess thats just part of the university experience though.
We have been touring college campuses for about a year and K State is by far the most friendly campus we've been to! There wasn't one door that I had to open myself because there was always a student walking along that would open it for me. This is highly unusual in these days and times! Lots of, "Welcome to K State" greetings... from the STUDENTS. I'm really hoping that this is where my son ends up. I love K State!
Great place, great people, good food.
Sadly, there's no longer a Taco Bell, and the place is barely recognizable as the building I sometimes entered as a wee lad about twenty years ago except the basement. But it's got its strong points.
