From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with smiles. We went with a total of 5 families and we all had an amazing time. The front desk employee, Austin was exceptional. He was so patient and helpful with all of our inquires. His customer skills were A1, top notch! If I could give him a 20 star rating on here I would. The GM, Brian was also very nice and helpful. He saw my husband taking pictures of the beautiful artwork and shared their common interest of photography. The amenities and room were great. Our kids enjoyed everything Kalahari had to offer especially the huge arcade. Haha. They walked/ran around sorry freely without any concerns. We can’t wait to come back with our families and make this a yearly before back to school trip Thank you again Kalahari Sandusky Ohio for making this such a memorable trip for my entire family!
This place is fantastic! We love it here. There are so many fun things to do and the rooms are great! The price for the rooms is as expected, but everything else is very expensive. Some of the markups for being resort are very high, particularly the food, alcohol and activities. You can eat off resort if looking to save a few bucks, with restaurants just down the street. The staff is friendly and professional. We did encounter an issue when I spilled coffee on our bed in the morning. Called housekeeping at 10 am and they said they'd be right down. Contacted guest services at 1:45 pm and they said someone would be there shortly. Called the front desk at about 9 pm as it was still there and they finally managed to get someone to change the bedding. Even though we were not pleased at the situation, all of our encounters were positive with the staff. I would still highly recommend this resort. Rooms: Rooms were very nice and comfortable.
We love it. March was our first time. Of course had to come back in the summer. Came for my birthday in August. We had the best veiw honestly that was my favorite. It was very quiet was able to sit out there in peace. There is so much we like I Would be here all day writing. Try it out you won't be disappointedRooms: 5/5
Huge indoor and new outdoor water park. The kids loved it and we like that life vests are there for them to use. Rooms were very clean and the arcade is a lot of fun, a little on the expensive side though.Rooms: 5/5
Overall we had a good time, of course there will always be issues but nothing we couldn't deal with. First, here are some hacks. They say no outside food or drink. Don't believe that, bring in anything you want. They don't check or care. Saw many people with complete meals in Tupperware and bags of fast food, chips drinks......you won't be bothered. Don't go on a Tuesday, They shut down 5 rides on our Tuesday. We were there for 3 days. Don't drive up towards the entrance, a lot of people park wherever to unload and block everything. Park on the east side, use a cart, and walk through the convention side to get your stuff to your room. Don't attend story time, the lady doesn't have a microphone or speaker and you can't hear her. Rules aren't consistent with each life guard and some will let you keep your shoes on for the rides, watch out for Melissa. Don't do the inside mini golf, it's a waste of credits, do the outside mini golf. Rooms: Rooms were nice, mini fridge and microwave so you can bring your own food and save money. Food & drinks: Bring anything you want, you won't be checked ot bothered
My family and I loved our experiences here. The water parks are huge. We book a king bed family suite and it was the perfect size for our family. Lots of dining options. Arcade is massive. We will return.Rooms: 5/5
We came here with my family for the safari outdoor park and adventure package. It was really hard to get to the safari park without staying at the hotel. We kept asking the employees and each one gave us a different answer. Finally we found the signs leading to the safari park. The person helping us with our tickets was helpful and patient. Our party did enjoy the outdoor park. The hotel doesn’t allow any food or beverages inside. I wanted to get tap water from the drink station; however, the lady was extremely rude saying there is no tap water and the tap water they have is sparkling water. When I asked about the sparkling water price, she said you have to buy a cup not stating the price. I am extremely disappointed with this attitude. Two things I wish were better: this employees attitude and the way to find the safari outdoor park. The information was very hard to obtain
We were in town for a convention. We couldn't quite figure out the draw to this location at first. It seemed very family oriented and really centered around the water park. I was there for business, didn't have my family, and really didn't have a desire to venture out with the kids to the water parks. But once inside, you get a feel of what it's all about. I'm used to Great Wolf Lodge in my home state, and that place always set the bar. Kalahari is that on steroids! All the kids there that I witnessed seemed to love it. And the water park is over the top awesome! The wave pool even!! For me, it was incredibly expensive - and I wasn't even paying for it. I get it - it's all about the experience. But burgers and shakes don't need to be as expensive as they are just because they're in the resort/convention. And that was the second cheapest place to eat. The local pizza place in the lower level was actually the cheapest - and it was quite honestly pathetic looking pizza I elected NOT to order it. I think if money is of no object and your kids want a fun experience, this is the place to go. For me, however, the pricing of everything was a turn-off. Glad someone else picked up the bill as I would not have wanted to see the final amount paid. Overall a great place to go for the family - just not for me. Oh, and the convention halls were awesome. Definitely a place to have large conventions at. HUGE, too.
We loved the outdoor water park!! We had a table with an umbrella that was our home base, and we left everything there all day as we were coming and going. It was a safe park. The rides were such a blast. The indoor Waterpark was great too, just so humid and loud. My kids 11 and 13 loved it all! Rooms: Rooms were standard and functional rooms. The beds were very uncomfortable for adults - my kids didn't mind! When we needed an extra blanket, staff were so fast to bring one! Food & drinks: It was very expensive, but you expect that at a resort. The pizza at Cafe Mirage was better than expected. B-Lux was an amazing restaurant! We loved the burgers and shakes. Service was also wonderful - Terry especially!
Where do I even begin with this awful place and lack of care from employees and management. First off, I was double charged for my room and when checking in they still added on the mandatory $200 hold that they charge when staying at the hotel. I still have not received any refund. When we got to our room there were bedbugs crawling on the pillow and even one in the bathroom. We took it down to the front desk and were told that they could move us to a different room, when we just wanted our money back and leave for good. When one room has it, every room holds a risk. We were told they couldn’t refund us until the morning after it was inspected officially, we were moved to a downgraded room on top of this. We went back to speak to a manager the following morning and was told our original room had no bugs in it, even after an employee came up there and took one in a cup to have it “proven” by a expert. You don’t have to be an expert in bugs to identify an infestation of bedbugs….when they denied them being in the room, they couldn’t answer the question to what bugs those were if they are claiming it is not bedbugs. The whole situation has been swept under the rug by them and they tried giving us free food vouchers to act as if they don’t rightfully owe us the money we spent to have our trip ruined. Do not waste your money here as the hotels are disgusting and infested let alone the filth and mold they have inside the park itself. Absolutely disguising and a waste of money, this place has gone downhill majorly, we have enjoyed this place in the past, but safe to say we will never be returning.
