Therapeutic massage and bodywork draws from touch therapies of both Western and non-Western traditions. I incorporate knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology to address soft tissue dysfunctions, stress-related conditions and energy imbalances.
Karen Boudreaux is a New Orleans native who has been a believer and student of alternative and mainstream options toward health and wellness throughout her life. Her belief is that we must hold ourselves accountable and be active and equal participants in our own personal health and approach to disease and wellness. She is passionate in the belief that given the right environment, the human body already knows how to heal itself and to be healthy. If you give your body some nurturing care through massage and outstanding nutrition, it will have the proper building materials needed to repair injury, heal disease and rebuild itself.
She began her studies at Charity Nursing School in 1975. Though she did not pursue her RN, her three years training served as the building blocks to the practitioner she is today. She also journeyed to Belize, Central America, in 2001, where her interest in the Mayan Herbal remedies and traditional attitudes and approaches toward health renewed her passion toward listening to our bodies and understanding the clues that our symptoms are working to give us to direct our ability to heal.
Upon her return from Belize, Karen received her training in Massage Therapy from The Lauterstein-Conway School of Massage in Austin, TX, graduating in 2009. She moved back home and into the Mandeville/Covington Community in February 2010 receiving her Massage Therapist Licensing in LA. She continued her quest for more Holistic Approach to living and aging in 2012 by receiving her Health Coach Certification from The Institute For Integrative Nutrition. She is currently studying the Rosemary Gladstar Course – “The Science and Art of Herbalism” to add Certified Herbalist to her repertoire and knowledge base.
At her Studio located at 416 E. Lockwood St. in downtown Covington - Holistic Life Approach is the culmination of a "whole person" approach to health and wellness. It includes not only physical, but also emotional, social, and spiritual health. Her special massage techniques work to reverse the negative effects of stress, repair damaged muscle tissue, and remove pain throughout your body. She utilizes a range of massage techniques that improve circulation, detoxify your body, relieve tension, improve digestion, enhance muscle tone, and increase mental alertness. Karen’s goal as a Health Coach is to provide support, counseling and education to women and families to promote holistic health and wellness. She works to provide simple steps and ideas to a better understanding of health and wellness as being directly linked to all facets of life enabling you to improve health and overall joy for living.
