Kathy Reda for Board of Health

About

Kathy Reda is a Newton-Wellesley Hospital Emergency Room nurse and active member of the Dedham community running for the Board of Health.

Description

I am running for Board of Health because I think I have unique abilities to be helpful on this town board. As an Emergency Room nurse and I see first-hand people who have come in from poor living conditions, neglect or abuse. I see those who are afraid to seek medical help and have developed infectious diseases that can be spread if not controlled. I see young people who have bad self-image and poor self-esteem some try to harm themselves. I see daily the effects of the opioid crisis with people who overdose. Our world is in a volatile state and we need to be better prepared for disasters both natural and man-made. There is a real danger with the marijuana legalization and its effects on young people.

I care deeply for our town and its residents and I would like the opportunity to serve on the board of health. I believe the Board of Health can work collaboratively with other town offices to help make our town safer and to promote cleaner living conditions and more robust disease prevention policies. I ask for your vote on April 14th.
