We strive to help families find solutions for their legal and financial frustrations, as well as find support and services to aid them. The practice of elder law, when done right, is about 50% legal work and 50% social work… we're here to help you find all the resources you need.

Over the past 2 years, we have often felt unsure of what direction to go with my dad's situation.  I left a message for KC Elder Law and the same day received a phone call from Amber.   She asked a ton of questions, and while I know she is busy, she treated our conversation like there was nothing more important that day.  The follow up meetings were so helpful on many levels. I am a Social Worker at a Long Term Care Facility. I just wanted to extend my gratitude for assisting me with general questions regarding DPOA and Guardianship so I can better educate my families and direct them on resources. I called the other day and the staff member was very pleasant and got back to me very timely. I have called a couple other times with general questions and have always been treated with kindness, compassion, and guidance or information was provided. I refer families to contact you if they are seeking financial assistance or guidance.

At the beginning of the Covid outbreak/lock down, my mother's dementia advanced to a point where she was no longer safe to live on her own. There was no DPOA in place, and I was at a loss on how to proceed to get Mom the care she needed.  I called KCEl, and was referred to attorney Ken Herring, who during our free consultation, explained in detail some last minute estate planning measures that KCEL would take to protect Mom's assets and other services they provide.  After retaining KCEL,  Ken drafted the estate plan, drafted and facilitated signature and notarization of a DPOA more difficult than it sounds during Covid lockdowns. He also helped me find a nursing home placement specialist who was invaluable at a time nursing homes were taking very few hew residents, and facility visits weren't allowed.  After Ken got the ball rolling, Lori Sanders took over the detailed estate plan. She was organized, professional and a joy to work with. Every detail was handled perfectly.  I want to thank both Lori and Ken for their invaluable help through a very stressful time for Mom and I. I highly recommend KC Elder Law, and will use them again soon to plan our own estate.

My family cannot thank Amber Thailing enough.  She went above and beyond to meet my parents needs, and honor their wishes in regards to their care. She is a true credit to her profession. I wish I had known about KC Elder Law months ago. It has been overwhelming caring for my 97 year old mom-in-law. The 24/7 hands on care doesn't compare to the confusion and stress of the paperwork and legal side. THEN I spoke with Amber Thailing, attorney at KC Elder Law. Oh my goodness, there isn't a word to describe how kind, patient, compassionate, understanding and helpful she was. She could relate to my situation due to her own personal family experiences with her parents. She was knowledgeable and a true blessing. I first contacted KC Elder Law to have a will drawn up as well as power of attorney documents for my mother.  I worked with them during the peak of Covid.  My attorney was working from home but I still received frequent updates. We managed to accomplish most everything between phone calls and emails.  They set up an outside "picnic table" meeting when we did have to meet for signatures.  Contact was limited to keep Mom as safe as possible.  I, sadly, lost my mom shortly after and KC Elder Law was there to assist with the remaining legal issues.  They were respectful and kind. They made the process as painless as it possibly could be.  I worked with two different attorneys and both were quite knowledgeable. I highly recommend KC Elder Law.

KC Elder Law helped me and my family through a very difficult time. Dan Flack in particular was such a great help. He assisted me in getting my husband on Medicaid and was very patient with me during the process. After my husband's passing, the group still remained there for me and I appreciated their support and sympathy during that time.
