We are a 501c3 Not for Profit providing meals, education and The Life Pantry on the west side of South Bend. Monetary donations are welcomed.
Our namesake Keith Giden Sr. was a beloved father, friend, and community member. His dream was to create a place where the neighborhood could come to together to eat, grow, and gather together to help each other in times of need. Keith was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in 2009. He bravely battled cancer for four years; during those years he made it a priority to be a light, source of strength, and an inspiration to those around him. Keith lost his battle to cancer in February of 2013. In November of 2013 the Keith Giden Community Center (KGCC) was founded. Keith’s closest friends and family were the driving force behind the inception of the center. Their mission was simple: see Keith’s dream become a reality on the west side of South Bend. The goal of the community center was to be a place where their neighbors could come enjoy a free meal and community. Over the past year the KGCC has fed over 2000 community members. It has grown from one meal a month to two and a regular monthly meal in the park that draws around 250 people. In June of 2014 the KGCC received its official 501c3 non-for profit status from the Government allowing the center to grow and reach deeper in the community. In the coming year the KGCC will grow to include weekly meals, a Life pantry, basic health care, and weekly adult and child programs.
A place where all people feel welcome to enjoy a socially accepting environment; striving to feed the community, while providing tools to help with everyday life challenges.
