Gotta love this place! How fortunate we are to have a top notch baking supply shop in our area. The great quality ingredients and baking supplies make it easy for home bakers like me to take things to the next level!
I attended a class on baking tarts led by master chef Jim Dodge. OUTSTANDING! I learned a great deal and came home with three delicious treats I made. Jim's instructional style is thorough yet hands on with a great deal of individual attention.
Great selection of flour, grains and baking accessories. Prices seem very reasonable overall, and you can save more by buying 25/50 lb bags.
Great bread and if you like sourdough bread as much as I do they have a bread club. You can get four different types of breads once a month either delivered or you can pick it up in Petaluma. What pulled me down there in the first place was that they carry Central milling flour which is one of the best flours around. If you want organic flour or maybe a flour with a little barley added to it to get a little extra flavor it's the place to go. they also have quite a few baking essentials like dough rising baskets, ravioli trays, Pizza trays amongst other things. Tired of the same old flower the same old flavor go down to Petaluma and give them a try.
Beware, Keith Giusto purchased Backwoods Whiskey Bar in Coeur d alene Idaho and still owes us money. This guy is not ethical and everyone should be warned before doing business with him. I have the documents to prove it that I will be posting very soon.
I didn't shop over there, I just picked flour for los angeles. Shipping and front desk was very professional.
A great place to get wonderful flours, baking supplies, baking equipment and more. Looking for unique, heirloom and organic flour, this is your place.
I have ordered some 50lb bags from here a few times and it's a good price and good flour. However, the reason for my review is Will. I was having issues ordering online and he spent a solid 10-15 mins trying to troubleshoot with me over the phone before it became apparent there was some backend glitch happening in the system. Then will took my order via phone and absolutely crushed helping me out overall. So, this is a shout-out to Will who did an awesome job handling a weird situation and helping me place my order. Cheers dude, thanks for the help!
I paid $40 for a lot of flour to be shipped to my house. Unlike every other company that fulfills online orders, Keith Giusto / Central Milling did not provide notification when the package is shipped nor any tracking information, even though it is available through FedEx. Two weeks later I reached out via email to inquire and am told that the package was already delivered. I suspect it was stolen off of my porch, as it likely sat there for up to 24 hours without my knowledge. Keith Giusto / Central Milling refused to refund me and advised me to file a claim with FedEx. I believe this loss is Keith Giusto / Central Milling's responsibility—not mine—since they didn't notify me that the package was sent nor a means to track it. I tend to find negative reviews about customer service as whiny and not all that fair—everyone has a bad day and such reviews often tend to be about a small perceived slight. However, in this case, I'm out $40 with no flour, which Keith Giusto / Central Milling could have avoided by providing a service that is standard practice for all online orders. I just want others to be aware and I advise ordering flour online at another vendor.
If you bake a lot or if you want to learn to bake a lot this is the place to go. I stock up every time I drive down from Oregon.
