Psychiatrist doesn’t care and is hard to communicate with. Every time I’ve been put on 2 or more medications at once, I’ve had awful interactions and she never gave me ANY warnings or info about taking those meds together. It’s been an on-going struggle for 6 years trying to find what works for me, and every single time I’ve had bad side effects. She doesn’t know what she’s doing when it comes to accommodation papers either. It took forever to get my forms, and when I did, half of the information was left out. If you’re going here in need of a medication that will help you or proof of needing accommodation, I wouldn’t suggest it. It’s a slow and agonizing process.
I was a Veterans Affairs referral that had an appointment scheduled for 9:00am. Signed in and sat there for a full hour, yet still wasn’t called back. Left out of frustration and asked the VA to refer me elsewhere. If you cannot honor the appointment time, then do not schedule the appointment for that time.
When it comes to mental health services, find anywhere but this place. I worked at Mt Comp for roughly a year 2012-2013 before I left due to terrible management and incompetency to the level that I, and others, feared getting tied up it litigation. I was recently referred to them for Genesite testing genetic testing to determine which medications would work best for you by my therapist. Unfortunately, they are the only local place to offer the service. Apparently, they will not share their test results with your family doctor or therapist. "That is for the doctor to go over with you alone." I could argue them and win thanks to HIPPA laws, but from the learned experience of working there coupled with the attitude I got from office staff when I asked about the testing, it isn't worth the time it would take. It would be easier to take time off work and drive to Lexington to visit a doctor who both takes the time to listen AND doesn't actively try to screw their patients over to keep them locked into their poorly designed system.
They will cancel your appointment the day of every time and then schedule it out another week to two weeks. Poor management and scheduling. Completely unprofessional.
This place has had some rather bad press in the years. Having gone there for years I've seen some of it personally. Burnt out therapist who merely pass you along to the Dr with no therapy. I didnt have a therapist who actually did therapy for years, out of 8 the last two were the only ones I'd consider therapist. To be honest once I got a therapist that cared it confused me. I was used to just going back and told I'll put you in line to see the Dr. And at one time the Drs were little better, not keeping track of med interactions or blood work. So why the high review, well things have changed for the better. The staff cares, the caliber of therapist has gone up drastically. The people in charge seem to actively look for professional burn out and try to take care of that issue. Drs actually keep track of med interactions and blood work. They have a food box program as well as an on site clinic downstairs. Complete honesty I hated going to MCC in the old days. I felt no one cared and I had no other options. Things are different now. That's not to say its perfect but the new head of staff seems sincere about addressing problems and making things better. I actually see the place as a support system now and not a two to three hour waste of time to get my medicine. Give the place a chance, be honest and be willing to talk, there are people there that care.
Advice from a young man, from me about mcc is if you need mental health help for your child and theres no other options then this place would be the best place for them but if you qre an adult and desire treatment and a diagnosis then find any other place than this place because the are surprising and highly stressful because probl ms and i ith never getting the correct and a timely diagnosis and they almost constantly have the issues that turned me away from going to them is the apointment issues and a trye example is they schedule you your next apointment in front of you and give their card with that date on it and you come back the day is showed the apointment and they tell you you have no apointment and you get yourself over it and move on and reschedule it and their waiting lists are anywhere from 2 to 4 or more months away so you pick a date they give you and you wait a verry long unnecessary long time to return and you go in up to the window and sign your info in and over an hour later they call you up to the window and they ask can we help you and you say i had an apointment a while back and they said i didnt so i had it rescheduled and waited 3 months for the apointment today as it shows on this card and they say umm well were sorry we dont have you listed for any apointments so i turned around and havnt been back and so if you need help then if your an adult then i would find any other place then there and thats my opinion from my own personal experience of being a patient there for over16 years and also out of them 16 years the only official diagnosis i was given was that i sufferd from major depression and after i went to a diff doc i got diagnosed on the first apointment with bipolar disorder and ongoing post tramadic stress disorder so the choice is yours on what you desire to do and this is my true story experience with them and if anybody weather it be people i love or people that are my enemy id tell share the same experience with anybody who asks me
Their highly unprofessional. They don't help whatsoever. If you live in eastern Kentucky just do yourself a huge favor and just go to KRCC they actually care about you and help you..
My mom goes there, they seem like they care and want to help her. She loves her doctor there!
