My name is Basil. I am Family physician, licenced in Ontario since 2009, and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the community at large.
First, let me begin by thanking members of the community, who came to introduce themselves, to welcome me, and share stories of this great community called Keswick.
I was born in London, United Kingdom in 1976. My father, who passed away in 2008, was a Urologist and General Surgeon. We moved shortly after I was born, to Kuwait. Where he worked in a private hospital.
In 1990, we immigrated to Toronto. I was 14 at the time. I enrolled at Brebeuf College School, and
Graduated in 1994. Shortly after that, I started my undergraduate studies in Biochemistry at McMaster
University, and from there I went on to complete my post graduate studies in Family Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan in Regina. I graduated as a Family Doctor in July 2007. After which, I moved back home to Toronto, where I currently have a practise around the area of Finch Avenue and Weston Road in Toronto.
It is from within that location that I met Mr. Aziz Yousef, and Mr. Mena Boutros, Keswick Medical Centre Pharmacist. Who approached me to work alongside them at this current location.
Having lived in Kuwait, Hamilton and Regina, and having received formal medical training in many small towns across Canada, including Meadow Lake (SK), Fogo Island (NFLD), Cornerbrook (NFLD), Moncton (NB) and London (ON), I naturally gravitated to the idea of working in a smaller town.
Since opening in January I have come to realize that Georgina residents have welcomed me with open arms, big hearts and smiles. Georgina is a family community and I am looking forward to growing with the community.
