An Adventure in Creativity
Chestertown RiverArts, a community arts center, offers a dynamic program of exhibitions, classes and special events. A highly valued part of the RiverArts’ vision is to foster the creativity of children. KidSPOT is one such program. It offers adventures in creativity to children aged 2-12, through a variety of hands-on experiences with artistic materials. We propose to develop this program into a dedicated children’s creativity center that will be open weekends for children of all ages to play, create and explore with painting, photography, music, crafts, writing, building and other forms of creative exploration. The creative stations will vary in medium and complexity so that children of all ages can participate. Guest presenters would be featured to offer special opportunities throughout the year. For a modest fee, with family weekend passes available, local residents and visitors can enjoy an exciting adventure in the arts.
This Creativity Center will tap into the creativity of children in our community, broadening their vision of themselves, their community and the world through hands-on activities and explorations. The Center will become a destination for area children at a place where they can look forward to interacting with stimulating activities that expand their horizons.
