As indoor kids museums go, Kidzu is a great small 2 hour visit for any family with kids under 10. There’s just enough to do for young kids between the Maker space, imaginative play areas - video board and dress up or restaurant, and climbing structures. And with the cost being 1/4 of other kids museums, it’s easy on the budget. The quiet space to read is also really neat for those that need it. With older kids we may visit again but I would highly recommend this place for kids toddler to 6! However there is a lot to fix in this place and it’s truly a 3.5 star review here. There are many busted items that need repair or some TLC, the climbing wall gets no use, and many of the dress up items are tattered. There’s no staff walking around cleaning up items, instead two sitting up front doing nothing but waiting. The space needs a good dusting and cleaning too.
I recently hosted my son's birthday party at this wonderful venue, and I cannot express how thrilled I am with the entire experience. From start to finish, everything was absolutely fantastic. The venue itself is beautiful and well-maintained, providing the perfect backdrop for a memorable event. What truly sets this place apart is the exceptional customer service. Tanya, in particular, went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of the party was taken care of. Her attention to detail and dedication to making the event special was truly heartwarming. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the entire team for making my son's birthday party an unforgettable occasion. I will definitely be returning for future events and will continue to spread the word about this fantastic venue.
It’s funny. I used to live in Chapel Hill and would take my toddler to Kidzu. I really enjoyed the museum and convenience, but once we moved to Raleigh I was super excited to live in close proximity to Marbles Children’s Museum. I was so impressed by how big it was. Fast forward 4 years and oh how do I miss Kidzu. It’s the perfect size to explore but not exhaust the kids or parents!. It’s enriching, warm, and magical. We went back recently and now that my toddler is older 5 1/2 she’s the perfect age for the maker space. Having all of those materials to create with was so inspiring to her. We also enjoyed the Ada Twist traveling exhibit while we were there. It was so neat. In the future I think we may make the trek all the way back to Chapel Hill just for a calmer, gentler, but lovely kexperience.
Great place! A little small but my 1 year old loved it. However what makes me only give this place 3 stars was one of the staff members. She made me and my family uncomfortable. Followed us around constantly. We would walk away and she would follow us asking my name and my families and my 1 year olds. Once she knew his name she constantly kept trying to talk to him. He showed no interest into talking or being around her and it was making us very uncomfortable. The staff member asked my families first names, birthday, and where they go to school. We left because we were so uncomfortable.
Overall this place is cool. I have a 8, 4 and 1 year old. They had a great time. I would caution every parent to pay close attention to the books that your kids are reading in the “book nook”. The variety of pride books for children’s play place was very disturbing and very obvious of intent to indoctrinate our children. Be who you want to be and do what you want to do. Not my place to tell you that. But it is my place to protect the innocence of my children. A pride book with naked people walking down the street and men with beards in dresses is just very very sad in a CHILDREN’S play place. Just pay attention if you go. I’m sure the response to this will be great. It is a college town after all. I should have figured.
Enjoyable experience but a bit over priced for a small location. We paid $18+ for a one-room area. It also seems a bit odd to charge for adults, when there is nothing in here for adults. But obviously an adult should accompany a minor. I would rather Over the Moon pay for kids, not adults or Marbles a lot more bang for your buck. Nice space and my toddler enjoyed, just won’t be a frequent spot. Employees at the check in were very kind and professional, and it seemed like it was cleaned often!
My 15 month old son had a blast! He loves running around and playing with everything!
Very good for creative play, with a well stocked makerspace. However my active 5 year old got bored in about 20 minutes. I think best age would be 3-4.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$6–10
Kidzu is an awesome place for kids to run and play. There are tons of different types of things to do, including crafts, rockwalls, interactive projectors, reading/story time,a builders workshop, an indoor tree house, and much more. Additionally, there is a calendar of events that brings a wide variety of one-off activities in. I've been many times, and I've always had a good experience with the staff and the other kids/families there. My kids are currently 2 and 4, and they can spend 1-3 hours here no problem. This is a family favorite, and part of the rotation with Marbles and the Durham Museum of Life and Science. Also, it is inside of mall, which has easy options for food as a part of the trip.
Small indoor play and exploration space for young children. Areas with blocks for building, play kitchen and farm, climbing wall, a tree house style play structure, soft pillow story spaces, and an outdoor garden. Fantastic maker space is geared toward slightly older children plenty of choking hazards!. There is also a small area for nonwalkers.
