Very slow office. And the doctor....is well beyond retirement. He could barely raise his arms. Did not inspect my concerns at all. Just accepted his fee for the visit. Absolutely horrible.
I was a patient of Dr. Spenser's many years ago 2012ish while I was AD at Fort Hood for at least a year maybe more… I am in process of requesting records from him and thought I'd share a review as I see more negative reviews than positive and TBH it sort of pi$$ed me off because Dr. S is probably one of the better providers I’ve seen in my life. Plus, it’s reviews typically from those who want the experience of a Lexus while paying the cost of riding a bus…. Plus, many of the reviews are not fair and balanced and based solely on the reviewers’ personal needs and not the professionalism and treatment of a provider. Back when I saw Dr. S I think it was $60 a visit which compared to the $160 other PCM billed, was much cheaper. If you are in the USA, it’s standard, especially as a new patient, to see a provider every time you need a refill… Providers are not medication dispensaries. To expect or demand a provider to take the time, for free, to call in your RX to save you money is selfish, inconsiderate, and a little narcissistic. I am not sure about other countries, but in the US, healthcare is not free. The only time providers write RX for 90 days at a time, is for established patients whose care is managed, but no provider is going to see a patient once or twice and then keep writing refills? Providers are a service, just like salons, auto repair etc. who offer a service. Nobody would ever expect a stylist to color their hair for free, or give them a free trim, yet we expect providers to work for free? I started seeing Dr. S after having pain issues in my back that was not generalized to on specific area or caused by an injury. I saw providers at Ft. Hood who made me feel like a guinea pig of random testing or put me on a profile or some other medical flag…I started seeing Dr. S so I could treat the issues and not raise any red flags to jeopardize anything with the military…I have seen a lot of providers over the years and found Dr. Spenser to be a no nonsense straight to the point provider...IMO He didn't sugarcoat things or waste my time with unnecessary treatments. Back then Dr. S I'm not sure took my insurance so I paid the $60 cash price, which was less than the average cost of $150. IDK what the cost is today that he charges but the average cost is $175 so anything less is below the US minimum standard. My favorite aspect that I respected the most was, Dr. S no nonsense, no frills, straight to the point care. Dr. S, like every other doctor in the world, may or may not be the best fit for your medical need and only you can determine that…I think Dr. S is a valuable resource to those who may have routine health issues with limited income who needs general care but not all the extras involved. But if you have trouble breathing and smoke two packs a day, Dr. S is going to tell you to quit smoking. If you have high cholesterol or are overweight, he’s probably going to tell you the problem is your diet…Dr. S at least when I was seeing him, was not suited for someone who wanted a provider with high tech facilities, 10 person front desk to expedite paperwork needs or doctor who will write a myriad of medications over telling you that giving up your four double whoppers at lunch will solve a lot of your problems…Providers are not a one size fits all approach, it’s about balancing needs and expectations against the services offered by the provider. But posting a negative review over standard medical treatment is unfair and superfluous. Sadly, Google can only understand starts and doesn’t decipher accurate reviews against unrealistic expectations of those with a bus fare budget but expecting a Lexus. In the end both get you from point A to Point B.
Dr Spencer is wonderful. I have been to see him about 4 times. Great man. His office staff is totally different. I'm here with my son today and Carmen is rude. I was just listening to her talk. She does not greet people at all. My son thought she was busy so he was waiting on her to speak. She said are you going to say something or not. I have been in customer service for 30 years and I have never been that rude.
I went in on 3/24/21 and paid $300 cash for all these test that I didn't need. My reason for the visit was my blood pressure. All test were negative except some breath test. 2 days later the Dr wants $80 to discuss my results, I refused to pay and wanted to leave because I paid for test I shouldn't have to pay for my results. He then writes me a cocktail of scripts that I pay out of pocket for including a 2 month supply of blood pressure meds but will not refill my blood pressure meds because I can't afford to come back to him. I've been without the meds he claims I need to keep my blood pressure under control since may 24th. This is not right or fair and I'm seeking legal counsel
Horrible experience. Incompetent staff at front desk, especially Carmen, the referral specialist. My husband had an appt late September to get a referral for an Oncologist. We were told to expect a call for an appt in about two weeks. Long story short, we waited over a month, no one called us, but I called the clinic 3 times and was assured each time that it had been submitted to his insurance and awaiting approval. After the 3rd time calling the clinic, I called my husbands insurance company and found out that nothing had been submitted for him after all. I went back to the clinic and spoke to Carmen again, in person, and she assured me, again, that she was submitting it right now. I said to her "You told me it was submitted 2 weeks ago," to which she simply replied "it didn't go through." She then wrote a phone number for an oncologist and told me she would fax over the paperwork his referral and that I can call them next week. No apologies or explanation. I am appalled at the unprofessionalism and lack of empathy we received at this clinic. My husband needs a biopsy, this is a serious issue and Carmen obviously didn't care about his well being or our situation. If you are looking for quality health care and staff who actually care about you and your family, do not go to this clinic because you wont find that there. *UPDATE 11/15/18* Carmen gave me a bad phone number for the Oncologist!!!!! I called that number multiple times from 2 different phones and every single time it said that number was out of service! Thanks for wasting our precious time, CARMEN!!!! I pray for all of the sick folk who are "helped" by you in the future.
One occasion I waited on hold for 30 minutes as Carmen would chime in every 5 minutes with "Just another moment please". Another occasion, I had been requesting a detailed receipt from them for more than two weeks. I was relieved finally receiving it to find out it was a receipt from a time before. The process started over and to this date I am waiting on a detailed receipt for blood work I had done May 7, 2019. When their credit card machine doesn't work, I usually walk down the street to Mickeys to withdraw the money from their ATM, otherwise I'd have to take another day off from work to reschedule an appointment. If you are experiencing any side effects from the medicine Dr.Spencer prescribes you, you may want to call and check with him about it. Unless things change, Carmen probably will inform you that Dr.Spencer only calls his patients around lunch and at the end of the day. Carmen is busy as bee, I'd hope your side effects do not require immediate attention, she may forget to have Dr.Spencer give you call.
Wonderful ppl, great service and care.
Went to see them on 19/4 saw lady doctor tells me my kidney is marked has chronic says I'm setting up referrals for ct , ultrasound, camera both ends ..today is 6th may nothing so I call the upfront not even called it in and says only a gastro person ..and will make the call ...it's 18 darn days ...gonna have to find new doctor ...his staff suck
Worst clinic ever. You can't get them to answer the phone if they do they put you on hold for over 20 minutes and then hang up. It's the most Mickey Mouse operation I've ever come across. Do not go here. Not worth your money!!!!
