Small local diner with inexpensive food. The service is fairly friendly, but the atmosphere is old and dated and the furniture is worn. The food is edible... Nothing spectacular but not bad either. They said they had great home made pie but they were sold out. There aren’t too many food options in the area so you can’t be too picky
Home style cooking for breakfast and lunch. Located in the popular dinning zone of downtown Midlothian. Friendly and attentive service during the busy lunch period. Chicken fried steak was tender with plenty of cream gravy. Not salty enough for my taste, easily remedied. Crispy fried okra and green beans rounded out the meal. Daughter had the French dip sandwich with fries. Onions on sandwich push this tender beefy choice to up a notch in flavor. Fries where crispy. Flavors tended to be on the blander side, possibly catering to a low salt diet. Just added a little to our meal to suit our taste. Look forward to coming back to try some of the soups, salads and other offerings.
The food is good but I can’t give five stars simply because the hash browns taste so… wrong. I can’t explain it but they just taste abnormal. Other than that the place is good! Just wish that they’d work on the hash brown issue.Food: 4/5
Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram at SNDTRAVELS and EATWELLTRAVELOFTEN We've been wanting to try this place for a while but we always seem to miss them, as they close at 2, but Friday we made it. Upon entry, we were greeted by busy but friendly staff. The service was attentive but took a little longer as you would expect at lunch. Mom had the beef stew special with cornbread. The stew was full of tender beef and vegetables. The soup was thinner than we're use to but very flavourful. She enjoyed it very much. Diane had the grilled chicken with mac & cheese and green beans. When they placed the plate on the table, you could smell that grill on the chicken and it looked perfect. It was as good as it looked, tender and jucy, with a fantastic taste. Homemade the mac & cheese was thick and the flavor was just right. Even the green beans were season nicely. I had the cheese burger and fries. Pretty simple meal done real well. Good size patty and a toasted bun and the french fries were crispy and fresh. All the elements came together to make it enjoyable. Everything here is scratch made and it showed. Co-owner Kim said she and her sister Jenny have been doing it for over 30 years and their experience and care to do it right made this a restaurant we look forward to returning to again and again. Three thumbs-up
If I could give this place a NO star I sure would. First ,we ordered to go, when we drive halfway down the street we look at the food and was like ohh no the portion size is just enough for a toddler - so we bring it back not eating none of the food.. They lady at the front register told my husband IM NOT GIVING YOU NOTHING.. referring to a refund request because we were not satisfied with what they gave us so we call the police because I’m trying to see if you can go to someone business to support the business and they tell you They’re not giving you your refund- well we left the food there and didn’t get our money back will never visit the place again.. I don’t understand why get in the business to deal with people but take from them..
Came here for breakfast and we waited for 50 minutes after we placed the order to get our food. They were busy, but 50 minutes is ridiculous the staff was for the most part great. Food is ok but not worth the wait. Also we have a one year old and had to change his diaper in the bathroom floor because they do not have a changing station. We will go to Caroline's from now on.
