King's Funeral Home did a excellent job considering the obvious tension among family members. So it's absolutely amazing that Donovan Modest would take this opportunity to put personal issues out there. Donovan Modest was absent for pretty much the last stages of My Mom's battle with Cancer. Along with My Father Donny Modest who did not know about his wife passing until 2 days after her death, actually Donny Modest found out at his family reunion. Neglecting his Devoted dying wife who was in a hospice at this point. My only complaint was due to the handling of My Mom's body when she was picked up. Which Rev.Reese was generous enough to take off money for My Mom's service. So while Donovan Modest chose to make this moment about him, to disclose that you paid for My Mom's service was unnecessary. When you do something out of the decency of your heart, NO recognition is required. So Thank You to the staff of King's Funeral Home for taking care of OUR FAMILY and especially for caring for MY MOM. Humility is key a trait that Donny and Donovan Modest forgot about along time ago.

I strive to support Black owned businesses, but this one has been a great disappointment; no recommendation from me. Another example of a company that doesn't know how to separate business from personal feelings; from the receptionist to the Office Manager, Kevin McKeever. During a time when I'm grieving the lost of my Mother, they have exhibited an unprofessional, insensitive, and rude attitude. Since August when my Mother passed, I have been cordial and professional with this funeral home up until today. This was even after the driver, that came to pick up my Mother's body from where she was located, mishandled my loved one's body. He hit her head on the bed rail and kept moving. The nurse had even offered to assist him and he refused. No apology or anything from HIM. He could've cared less. Initially, the staff appeared to be comforting and accommodating. However, that changed after my Mother's service and burial. The receptionist was very unprofessional by making slandering remarks about my character. She doesn't know or speak for me, and I don't know her and don't want to; so she was totally out of line. Direct reflection of the entire staff. Kevin had personally told me twice that he, himself, would notify me via phone once the death certificates arrived. He never did. I had to have my sister go by their place of business to retrieve the certificates and even then, all of the certificates were not in there incomplete. I simply called today to asked about a death certificate $7 that was included in the final invoice; plus on top of the fact I personally covered the cost of my Mother's service verified with the insurance company. He was very rude and dismissive towards me. I'm trying to have an adult conversation, but it turned into him bringing up something that had nothing to do with a death certificate. I just ended the call because it was getting no where... just constantly trying to talk over me and saying I was at fault. Find a company that is professional at all times and doesn't mix in personal/family affairs with conducting business.
King's Funeral home has been a blessing to my family. They have shown compassion and professionalism in every detail for my great grandmother, grandmother, grandfather, aunts and uncles on both sides of my family. I recommend Kings because during difficult times they made sure our family was comforted.
This is so sad to hear at one of the most tramatic and pivotal times of Donovan's life. Business should be just business and leave out personal perspectives. There is a service that is to be performed with integrity and professionalism which is then compensated financially. So sad Donovan the son had to endure this.
