We’ve been coming here for years and always have a great time. The staff works hard to keep everyone safe and the place clean. Snack options are good but take a while when busy. Pools and slides are great and my boys teens always love coming here. The location right on the lake is also amazing and there are options for on-site bike and kayak rentals, the mini golf, walking trail around the lake, and a park just to the west of the hotel. We usually do a couple nights when we stay and are always happy to return.
I am no savvy traveler...but have stayed in various hotels and I can honestly say that this hotel is pretty nice. Rooms are well stocked, clean and spacious. The restaurant is also great, great menu, great portions, the personnel was amazing. Now the water park! I don't know why but this was a fun sized, clean, well cared for park. Not only did my kids teens enjoy, but also my wife and I. Now, Storm Lake! We love this little town; restaurants, shops, the lake, together with a playground, beach, bike and kayak rental....its just perfect!
We came for the day to enjoy the waterpark and it was a great time! We loved that they had little life jackets on hand for any kids that wanted/needed one. And were extremely impressed with the attentive lifeguards! There was something for all ages to stay occupied there. We were disappointed in the lack of 2 person tubes, and a few slides were closed red&white coin drop specifically. But the other slides, indoor pool, and diving board made up for it! We'll definitely be back soon!
I enjoyed the Diving board and the slides. I have gone to every water park in Wisconsin Dells and this is cheap in comparison. It's best for locals, I wouldn't recommend driving over 2hours for this place I drove 7 Very Kid friendly, and Hotel service is great and very helpful. It is an indoor and outdoor water park admission. Most people go after 2pm from what I noticed and spend their whole day there. It's not too crowded.
The hotel staff are very friendly. The view of the lake is pretty. The rooms are pretty basic yet clean. The beds are not very comfortable with flat pillows. You can hear your neighbors talking and those above you moving around. This was a downside for us. The outdoor waterpark was small but perfect size for families. The indoor water park water temperature could be warmer. Rooms: The rooms were clean and basic. The pillows are very flat and we all woke up with a back ache. Food & drinks: The breakfast buffet didn't have a whole lot to offer. The eggs, pancakes and biscuits and gravy were not very flavorful.
Great experience! Water park has lots to do & so much fun for all ages. The grounds, park and restrooms were clean and well stocked. The staff was friendly and very attentive. Price is very reasonable. Recommend! Safety: Very impressed with the attentiveness of all the staff at the water park. Lifeguards patrolled their areas and were very focused. Great to see young people who are responsible and dedicated!
Stayed in one of the cabins on site and you can tell that they need some updates. Bedroom door handle kept falling off, beds were not the best, a bunch of stains on couch in living room. had family that stayed in another one and you couldn't open their patio door from the outside and was in the same shape as our cabin. Waterpark wise was very nice. they were closed the day we arrived due to mechanical issues, however worked to get it open the next day. they didn't have many 2 person tubes, which was a disappointment since having 2 kids that that would have been old enough to do the tube slides with an adult. overall the pool area was the best area for us for the stay and made the trip Nearby activities: did mini golf with the family and it was set up nicely, and was decently priced. only down side was it was hot out and they didn't have a lot of shade there. Food & drinks: restaurant was good food- we were surprised they weren't busier. prices were great and even the kids meal had a lot of food with it
So, an honest review of the hotel. It has a beautiful, peaceful location. The hotel has an attractive facade. When you walk into the lobby, it's great because the view of the lake sets guests at ease. The restaurant has a lovely open fire at night, which is nice to sit out by as you listen to the water gently hitting the rocks and the birds callling around you, is all very peaceful. But that was the most satisfying aspect of the hotel stay. All in all, It's a nice enough place. I think at some point, it was a nicer, higher end hotel. The photos look very good. But it's looking tired, and needs some love. The carpets are quite worn out and stained. Our room had two drawers that were broken/ wouldn't stay closed. Housekeeping cleans every fourth day. They don't bring basics such as towels, toilet paper, or soap unless you call and ask for it. At $259/ night + a $20 resort fee. Keeping the room supplied with these things should be a bare minimum. We checked in to our room, to find that we were situated right beside the restaurant ventilation system. We tried to ignore it. But we quickly realized that enjoying that lake view balcony, or the possibility of sleep at all wouldn't be happening. My husband went down to talk with them. They were nice enough to switch rooms for us. We appreciated that. I originally booked the King Family Suite because it advertised "Full kitchen" this was not at all accurate as there was only a fridge and microwave. I think travelers should be aware of this. We were moved to the Lake View Queen Suite. We now had a mini fridge, but surely still enough to hold our goodies, so no problem. As I put our food and snacks away, I realized there were no utensils, plates, bowls, cups.... nothing of any kind. So we went to the local grocery store and picked these up. We have stayed in many hotels, always with a full kitchen. They always have actual kitchens complete with stoves, and are supplied with the basic essentials for meal preparation as advertised. This was bare bones, completely empty. A mini fridge and a microwave is NOT a kitchen. Basic hotel accommodations, which is fine if that is what is advertised and that is what is expected. We had two children with us. We asked if hotel staff could bring one extra blanket and one extra pillow. We were told that. They have those things, but they just don't have the time to bring anything to guest rooms. That if we wanted anything, we could come and get whatever we needed. Again, not necessarily a problem. We are capable of gathering these things. But unprofessional at best. There is no breakfast continental or otherwise served except for at the restaurant. Guest services does have donuts available for $2 each. The restaurant was fine. The food was satisfying. Typical of anything one would find in the midwest. No complaints. It was always quiet and the servers we quick and friendly. The outside dining is a really nice option. If you have to sit inside due to weather or preference, it's all windows. So either way, nice views. The waterpark is great for the kids, slides are fun for everyone who likes slides. Lazy river. Diving boards. Zero entry area, Little kids area separate from big kids area. Indoor and outdoor fun. Pool isn't overcrowded. We went during the week, weekends may be a different story. I don't know. Only a few down sides... pools close at 8pm sharp, during the Summer, that is REALLY early. And there is no hot tub to relax after lots of running around with the kiddos. Noteworthy details: REALLY QUIET in Storm Lake and really not a whole lot for adults to do outside of playing with the kids and relaxing at the restaurant. There is a small movie theater, a great Ice cream/ candy shop VERY expensive though, a super sweet donut shop, Tropical snow shaved Ice in the summer months, a few restaurants, bars, and shops. It seemed many businesses open/ close random hours not according to what is on their posted hours. Kayaks and bikes can affordably be rented. Pontoon boats can be rented at $450 for 8 hours. There is a small beach and playground a short walk from the hotel. For those who like beautiful architecture, there is lots to admire in Storm lake. There is also an abundance of trees and nature to enjoy. However, in spite of all of the beauty of the area, and fun to be had at the water park, there was one thing that we couldn't escape the whole time we were there, no matter the time of day, or the activity. Sadly the smell of pig poop followed us everywhere. We wished somebody, in some review had mentioned this, somewhere. I never saw it, maybe we missed it.
We went to Kings Pointe Resort over Father's Day weekend. We had not gotten out of town yet this summer and thought it was the perfect opportunity to get out of town for a couple days. We traveled from Omaha so our travel time was about 2 1/2 hours. We traveled with friends, but in our family we had three young children, 9, 7, and 4. This was a great place to take our little family. We ended up booking the queen suite Lakeview. Make sure when you're booking if you want to see the water that you select Lakeview instead of northview which I believe is the view of the parking lot. Highly recommend paying a bit extra for the view as there are balconies attached to each room with a couple chairs to let you soak in the scenery. The rooms were clean and all the linens and bedding was nice. I will say that some things were a little dusty, but I will also say we had our door open to the balcony if anyone thinks that could contribute. It wasn't enough to bother us. The rooms come w light blankets and I was glad I had our kids bring their own blankets. The hotel staff did give us additional blankets at the front desk. There is a nice set up in the suite we were in with plenty of cabinet space, a microwave, a nice sized mini fridge and small kitchen sink and counter space. Plenty of room for me to prep some lunch and snacks. We did eat at the on-site restaurant one morning for their brunch buffet 12.99 per person and 4 and under were free. FYI the cost of the buffet doesn't include drinks - if anyone is it isn't used to that. Those are extra. The water park was great, I like that it's close enough you can keep an eye on more areas than you would think. I will say I was so impressed with the lifeguards and staff at pools and waterslides. They were always watching, always moving, and taking their jobs very seriously. Kudos to the water park staff for sure. There is also a snack shack at the waterpark where you can get snacks, alcohol, drinks, etc. You can even order a pizza if you want as there is an indoor snack shack and pool as well. We only went to the indoor pool one time and spent the majority outside, but we preferred the outdoor pools personally. There was a trail that ran around the lake to walk along, as well as a fun beachfront and public park within a 10 minute walk..or less depending how long the people in your parties legs are. : All in all, we look forward to visiting again in the future and recommend this as a great family friendly option to spend a weekend or more at.
Rooms ok. Wet carpet next to the bed in 105. Not sure if leak from bathroom or elsewhere. No blanket on bed. Front desk said they would bring one but I must have fallen asleep and didn't hear them knock. My daughter found it outside the door. Staff friendly and helpful . Noisy floor above until after 10. Kids running in their room. Charge for breakfast.
