Scary. Let me elaborate, grades k, 1, 3, and 4 were alright nothing too bad about them. And then we get to fifth grade. As far as fifth grade classes go such as social studies, reading, etc. They were fine. One of the problems I had was with the cafeteria. They ran out of food almost everyday and had to make more while 25 kids stood in line watching them. They almost never gave us any extra time and our lunch period was like 20 minutes. Also, they almost never allowed us to talk, still really don't know why. One of my biggest issues with this school year was that one day a teacher got a call and told a few of my classmates to go down the hall and open a door for a girl and let her give us something. They all go down there and about ten minutes of us not knowing where they went she pointed to me and told me to find them. We all get to the door, open it, and there stands a girl we've never seen before. This girl proceeds to hand us 1 or 2 bottles of pills. We are confused at this point wondering why we just did that but we were young and thought we were supposed trust our teachers, so we did. We walked back to this teacher and gave her the pills and then she thanked us. I don't know what we gave to her, nor do I know what her intentions were, but even if it was only Tylenol she still should just had the girl go to the office and then she should have went and got them. Inappropriate. Again I am not blaming everyone, only a few teachers, but those teachers made all the difference.
My kindergarten years were okay here. In first grade, I was an advanced student and the staff were not giving me enough challenges. I was bullied and told a teacher, and she made it sound like I was causing the trouble. The principal refused to acknowledge it and said to my mother, "If you don't like it, homeschool her." I needed speech therapy in kindergarten, but they refused to start me in speech therapy until first grade. This school also does not have as good security as some of the other schools in the area. I would not recommend this school to any parents.
Great school. Teachers care about the students and will communicate to the parents unlike some other local schools. Most of the teachers live in the local community along side their students which makes a great rapport. I would gladly send my children there again if we lived in the area. Students were taught real life things too besides just what was in the text books. Can't sing the praises of this school enough.
We love Kingston!!
