When my business in San Francisco had to defend an employment class action hour and wage case I spoke to several attorneys I knew and asked for the best California labor law attorney in the city. More than one lawyer pointed me right to Patrick Kitchin. As an expert in California labor law that only specialized in employment law I felt I was dealing with a specialist rather that a one size fits all legal outfit. Immediately Patrick Kitchin took over the case and allowed me to focus on my work rather than studying California labor laws! The case was complex being a medical marijuana dispensary that worked dominantly in cash didn’t help the wage case, but Mr Kitchin strategized and worked around all my issues. He was critical, fast witted, intelligent and persuasive in deposition and mediation. Overall Even in hindsight I still feel we did our best and got the best results for the company. Without Patrick Kitchin’s expertise in California employment law, our hour and wage class action case could have dragged out and been financially detrimental, but he did his best to keep me focused on my work and to button this up as ASAP. In August 2010, I became concerned that my employer had misclassified me as ineligible for overtime. I was reluctant to speak with an attorney because the legal profession doesn't have the best reputation. But meeting with Patrick turned out to be pleasant surprise. He spoke to me like a real person, and he didn't pressure me into taking any steps I wasn't comfortable with. He always made time for me when I called, even in the evenings, and he was great about returning my calls. After about a year, we reached a very satisfactory settlement with my employer. I was proud that I saw my employer doing something illegal and had the courage to do something. If you feel your employer is getting away with something, I strongly encourage you to meet with Patrick to discuss your situation.
