“Kodiak Gallery” /formerly in Richmond Hill /,currently in the Toronto Historic Distillery District,24 Tank House Lane, tel#. 416 6400064 , is internationally known for its versatile and creative art projects in photography,painting,graphic arts and especially in new mediums.
Gregory Talas ,the art director and owner of the gallery ,is an award winning photographer, painter,educator and producer. Born in Vilnius, Lithuania, Gregory, at the age of 16, started working professionally as a photographer, printer, color separator for a large publishing company. At the age of 18, he showed great interest in jazz and continued to work as a recording and club musician with several well known jazz groups. In the seventies, Gregory became the head of the photo department at the Institute Of Industrial Design , and seven years later started a photo design studio, which he successfully ran until 1989. He moved to Canada in the early 1990.

Throughout his career, Gregory was involved in contract work with different industrial companies, as well as cultural and publishing houses. He designed and produced art and trade shows in Great Britain, Czech Republic, Germany,Italy, Finland,Canada, Lithuania and Russia. He also served as a correspondent for the ‘Evening News’,”Literatura ir menas”newspapers, as well as ‘Student Meridian’ and ‘Sobesednik’ magazines.The well known international news agency :APN”, magazines “Sovetskoe Foto” and “Decorativnoje Iskusstvo” published his photographs.About 40 jazz and classical music LP’s, published in Great Britain, Lithuania, Russia, Poland, used his musical photos in their design.

From 1990, in Canada, Gregory was working at “Ground Zero” packaging, later for the “Toronto Sun” newspaper,”Templeton Studios”. His pictures has been published in ‘Toronto Star’ and ‘NOW’ magazines,he participated in numerous art shows and exibitions /best in photography- Art Focus 98/,and local magazines published his work and articles about photography and design.

Since 1997 Gregory has been an owner of “Kodiak Gallery”, an art gallery , photo studio and custom framing shop located in Richmond Hill, Ontario were he is showing his photography,paintings, having photography and art workshops and curating works of art from artists in many different mediums. In April 2009, Gregory relocated the gallery to the HISTORIC DISTILLERY DISTRICT at 55 Mill st. bld.47, downtown Toronto. Among the major clients : TD Canada Trust, Grater Toronto Airport Authority, Air Canada centre, HELLENIC retirement residencies, Design Nexus interiors
