This is a beautiful state park ~ need state sticker to get in. There is camping and a north and south beach area. Beach is nice in both areas but not much shade so I recommend a shade tent or beach umbrella. Finding a parking spot in the north beach area was quite the challenge ~ spots are limited. South beach had plenty of parking. Doesn't seem too handicap friendly in some areas. Had running water bathroom in both areas. Picnic tables. North Beach is dog friendly whereas South Beach is not. Would recommend going earlier in the day on a weekend. Also has hiking trails ~ which look beautiful. Family friendly. I highly recommend going here. We had a blast at both beaches. Restrooms: Running water and soap along with a changing area in south beach Dog-friendliness: North beach is dog friendly Picnic area: Decent amount of picnic tables. Some in shaded areas.
I had a great experience tent camping. I walked some trails and checked out my fellow campers--see their setups. The restrooms are clean, some have flush toilets and showers. I noticed a laundry room and that the park sells ice and other items. It is a lovely and varied park with much to offer both families and single persons.
A must go to park when in Wisconsin. Visit the Natural Center to learn interesting facts about a second floor view of the long beach. We were lucky enough to find out the were having a lantern walk at night event and this was amazing as my husband and I are celebrating out anniversary, this just made it extra special. There is camping available as well. The park closes at 11PM and no lifeguards. Restrooms: Use the maps to find restroom locations and also the Nature Center has a restroom so visit while there Dog-friendliness: Very dog friendly and they have a dedicated space for them as well for easier access. Ask when at park entrance Picnic area: Lots of picnic areas throughout the park with stand up grill, decent size.
I love this place so much. The beach is amazing! The spaces are semi tucked away and hidden so it feels spacious. The bathrooms are immaculate.
Loved this place! Clean beach tho algae was pretty bad that day. It was great to be able to take kids And dog. The dog area is in area 2 so set away from other beach areas of the park. The parking was a little small so if full you may have to walk a bit. There was a great spot to sit and grill out in shade before you got to beach, but some ppl also grilling on beach. In area 2, the bathroom was clean but it is an outhouse so no running water. There was a water fountain with dog bowl part at the bottom - not the best tasting so bring your own. The rest of the park had grilling spots as well- but pack your patience. We went on a Saturday in July. Parking is hard to find in many areas since ppl everywhere but area 8 seemed pretty open but also very end before having to turn around. Area 8 had open grass areas. There was even a volleyball area. We didn't see beach access from this area so you could park and walk a bit to access from other sections. Based on map we thought enormous park with each section spread far apart but it really wasnt. I think it took about 15-20 min to get to very end driving super slow. Wildlife does cross road - we had to wait while a turtle crossed. There were dogs in other areas of park but all leashed. Most were leashed in dog area as well, and the ones that weren't seemed well behaved. If looking for a someplace to hang out for the day that is fairly cheap then this is it. I would recommend you buy Wisconsin State Park pass ahead of time if you could - because the line for the day pass was very long. We are definitely coming back so we can explore the rest of the park. Restrooms: Clean and close but port-a-potty type - no running water Dog-friendliness: Area 2 specifically for pets Picnic area: Around area 2, perfect shaded area before you get to beach
Beautiful park. Boardwalk has some uneven /broken boards making it slightly difficult to navigate. Beach had a deceased Seagull and a lot of feathers while walking the beach. Soft sandy beach. Not much shade so make sure you bring sunscreen.
Nice area, sand dunes, shady trees, and water views from a boardwalk trail. Dogs were allowed on leash. The day we went they had free admission which was nice. I liked it and my only negative was that a lot of people were there. They could have had more seating areas around.
Beautiful park and lovely campground! There is so much nature and wildlife to see here. The beach is gorgeous, as are the hiking trails and cordwalks. Staff are very helpful, as are the the people in the nature center. Bathrooms and sites were very clean. Highly recommend!
Love this state park! The office staff are always really nice and the park is really well kept. Always super super clean, including the bathrooms! Love that they are dog friendly too, even on the beach.
Beautiful park! We took our two year older daughter here for her birthday and she had a blast. We only went for a small hike, but it was enough for me to go online and find a campsite at a future date. Awesome trails, awesome nature center, awesome beach! Can't for an extended stay where I can explore this park more.
