Tried the crepe. It’s definitely not the traditional Chinese . Good thing is you can pick vegetarian meat for the filling and it’s fully customizable. If they could use traditional soybean sauce, the taste could be better. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian Chicken
I moved to the Bay area after this shop seemed to have been forced to move into the back, so I don't know what it's like before how it is now. I moved here from Vancouver, where there are many options for good and authentic jianbing. I myself am a Tianjin native, one of the places famous for jianbing, so I feel like I have some credence to talk about it. As far as the flavor goes, it's definitely the best I've tried in South Bay. When I tried my first bite for the first time, I thought I had finally found some decent jianbing here with the familiar release of intense flavor and aroma that comes with biting down into a fresh jianbing. Unfortunately it would still fall a bit short of what I would consider to be on the better side of what I've tried in Vancouver. The crisps inside become soggy really quickly, possibly due to the small size of them, so even if you live really close by there's a high chance they'll be completely soft by the time you eat it. I would only get the classic jianbing for this reason, as the other ones seem to compound this problem with the sauce. The dough feels kinda stretchy? I'm used to pure mung bean batter jianbing, but I know different varieties exist so I won't complain too much. Either way I hope k tea cafe stays around so I can keep occasionally dropping by for jianbing. If you haven't tried it before I would wholeheartedly give my recommendation.
The order estimate was 15 min and it took 10-15 minutes longer than that to be prepared. I was there at a very slow time in the afternoon and I don’t think they started making my order until I went back and inquired after my estimated time. The packaging had a lot of unnecessary plastic and the Jianbing got steamy and soft in it. I ate it immediately after picking it up and the bao cui was already soft. It seemed like there was supposed to be pork floss in the classic, but it was missing in mine.
My wife and I ran into this place looking for a place to relax and grab a quick bite. This place is likely out new spot on the block. It has good tea, good food and a relaxing atmosphere. The staff was really friendly as well. We ordered veggie Jiaeing which we will definitely be coming back for. It's like an egg crepe sandwich, and very tasty. We'd highly recommend coming by to try it. We also ordered a bento box no meat which they were super accommodating about. They didn't have a tofu option but came by after asking if we wanted them to add tofu to it free of charge. We opted not to, but the fact that they asked was really considerate it wasn't on their menu. We also got sweet potato fries. They were good albeit under seasoned wasn't worth losing a star though as they were crispy and tasty, and the rest of the food was amazing We also got two of the teas, tropical fruit and orange fruits. The staff was super considerate, explaining how they sweeten and giving good comparisons to be sure the tea was sweetened to our liking. Overall, our experience was great. Definitely coming back here again over the next few weeks.
I stopped by in Sunnyvale to grab a quick bite and decided to come to K Tea Cafe. I'm so glad I did! This was the first time I tried Jianbing and instantly fell in love with it. I ordered it with bulgogi beef and it was packed with delicious flavors and unique textures. The wrapping is similar to a crepe while the fried wonton added a crunch as you took a bite. For $10 this was also very filling!
Interesting place for serving street foods like Jianping Guozi - which is famous Chinese crispy donut crepe! It’s a very famous street food in China that you would have a crepe made with scramble egg, crispy donuts, and all kinds spice sources. This place has been very creative to add dry pork, beef, or chicken, or tofu. So basically you make your own Jianbing!
They're still at soft opening right now, but seem to know what they're doing already! : I had the bulgogi jianbing and it was tasty. Didn't have to wait long for it to be made either. The tea genmaicha, light sweet tastes good with plenty of tea flavor. The servers are super friendly, and told me they're continuing to add new menu items until the real open in April. Will definitely come back and try more things!
2 stars only for service. Fried chicken was dry, drinks too perfume-y, and the jianbing just … didn’t taste good. Also had issues with the self ordering system not connecting to the payment system, and this is the only reason they got 2 stars instead of 1, after one of the employees fixed it, the manager? came by and stayed to make sure we got our order in.
Well, it's no longer a café since there's no seating. The owner has relegated it to a single doorway next to the bathroom in a hallway between two of her other businesses. One of those businesses seems to have taken over the space that used to make K Tea Cafe an actual café. I watched multiple people look for K Tea and have to double back when they realized they had passed it, then leave without ordering once they discovered they had to order takeout and wait in a cramped hallway. Moving on to the food, I got a jianbing which was generous in terms of ingredients and packaged well, but not a hint of crispiness. I liked the ingredients, but not enough to go back and deal with everything else wrong with this not-a-cafe.
Literally just a kitchen with a sketchy pickup window. Only one staff on a weekend day. Online status says our order is ready but the staff says it will take another 10 mins. This entire experience is terrible. Do not come here. Hey owners, if you can't afford to hire people just shut down already!
