Reviews
Because Yelp continues to filter honest negative reviews: I would prefer to give a single star but let's try to be productive. My son signed up for 6 months of English and Math tutoring. The English packets are somewhat useful but the math exercises are the same month after month. When you're child is consistently getting 100% and a smiley face stamp, common sense tells you that it's time to move on to something more challenging. I've asked the owner to switched it to word math which is what he's struggling with but he insists on doing repetitive addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractional exercises. If you're child is 6 or 7, it may be appropriate, but when you child is a 4th grader, it's rather silly. He, the owner, stresses speed and accuracy. If I want my child to become a calculator, sure, I can see his point. but that's not what I and most parents signed up for. Their philosophy is blind with no real life application. I'd like to see them publish their achievements reviewed by an academic third party. In my opinion, Kumon is oversold. Purchasing scholastic books appropriate for your child has more value. Save your money and get a one on one tutor or simply buy books covering lessons your child needs. There's absolutely no feedback for the parents. Very odd.
I was pleasantly surprised to see how much my grandchildren had learned within a year. It takes commitment but seems to yield result.
