The STEP Program is a vocational program for 18-21 year old students with significant disabilities that live in the Kenosha Unified School District.
The STEP Program offers a continuum of vocational and transition services that are personalized through their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
The program has a focus on the following domains:
vocational skills & training, independent living, community awareness, and recreation/leisure skills and activities.
Where is it located? The STEP Program has two locations. The STEP East campus is located at the Boys & Girls Club at 1330 52nd Street. The STEP West campus is located within Indian Trail High School.
Why was this developed? The STEP Program has been created to provide transition opportunities for students to gain independent living skills, social skills, employment, and self-advocacy in real life settings. Participation in age appropriate recreation and leisure activities in community is also part of the STEP program.
Who supports this program? The STEP Program staff consists of Special Education Teachers, Assistants and Related Service professionals. The STEP Program has a four day per week schedule for students.
