In 1990, Laura Clemente opened LaBarberia in Little Italy as a Barber Shop. Over the years, as the shop's popularity and clientele continued to flourish, Laura recognized the need for expansion. Her vision was remarkable…and rare: to renovate and increase the size of the shop so that she could offer salon & spa services, not only to meet the needs of her many male clients but for potential female clients, as well. Essentially, Laura's dream was to turn her shop into a full service salon & spa, while maintaining its Barber Shop roots. Her dream became reality. From 1998 to 1999, LaBarberia was transformed into LaBarberia University Spa, staffing both barbers and cosmetologists, nail technicians and massage therapists. The once all-male Barber Shop was now offering multiple services for men and women. A couple of years later in 2001, with the salon, its clientele and staff still thriving, Laura opened LaBarberia Express in University Circle. Although Express is not the full service salon Laura created in Little Italy, her intention was to design a Barber Shop/Salon that would service students and working men and women with busy lifestyles. Again, Laura succeeded and within two years was imagining a third LaBarberia. In 2003, LaBarberia Hillcrest, a full service salon & spa opened in Mayfield Heights, offering all the same great services and with a new sophisticated look. As LaBarberia continues to grow, Laura never loses sight of how she's continued to succeed over the years: the amazing clients that keep coming back and the talented team she's kept together.
