I've been to Spain so I'm kind of biased when it comes to paella and sangria. So overall I would say I would try this restaurant again. The food was good. I did have a problem with the sangria because a traditional sangria in Spain does not have Sprite in it. But all of the tapas were really good. The chicken kabobs and potatoes were my favorite. The seafood and the paella was drastically overcooked, clams hard and chewy. But the flavor was really delicious. We made a reservation but ended up at a table where it was super cold and asked the hostess if we could move. They moved us to a different table but gave us a timeline on when we had to be done because the table was reserved for another party. Which I thought was a little bit rude because we had also made reservations. In the end they didn't end up making us move. Overall it was a good vibe and I will return.
I’ve been dining here since before it was called La Bodega, so naturally it’s an enduring favorite for me. I always get a combination of tapas, so I don’t have much experience with entrees or salads. The small plates are outstanding. Almost everything I’ve gotten here has been an excellent combination of good basic cuisine and delicious sauce. I’m a big garlic fan, and they do an especially good job with garlic-intensive flavors. I just about always get the brotxeta and the papas fritas con ajo. From there it depends on what’s on special, what my companions want to try and what happens to catch my eye. As I said, I’ve almost never gone wrong. They also do a good job with cocktails. On my most recent visit I got an allspice daiquiri that was quite good. The service here is excellent. I recommend going during happy hour for the cheaper tapas and reduced noise level. Getting lots of small things can add up to a big bill at the end of the meal, and parking can be a little weird. But really this is one of KC's best dining experiences.
If I lived in KC I'd come here all the time! The food and staff are amazing. The restaurant itself is beautiful and there's so much pride in the service and the food. We made a lunch reservation on a Sunday before the football game. They had brunch and lunch options as well as a sangria drink special. Our waiter was super knowledgeable and attentive even with all the customers. We ordered the dessert coffee that was prepared table side and it was lit on fire! On purpose mind you. It was very cool! They have a great selection of tapas. You can't go wrong!
Their seafood paella had actual seafood on it! Many places try to call a paella with 3 shrimp and 2 mussels a seafood paella, lol… this place actually had a generous amount. Great Spanish ceviche as well… would definitely come back.Food: 3/5
I absolutely enjoyed this dining experience. The drinks were tasty and strong. We tried a multitude of tapas and were not disappointed. Our server was amazing. I will be back. They have outdoor seating and I want to go back on a nice day, sip Sangria and indulge in tapas with my girls or my my guy!Food: 5/5
Wow!! What a great experience! This was my first time at a Tapas restaurant. There were 4 of us that went on a Sunday early afternoon. Let's start with Liam our server, He went above and beyond explaining the dishes. His recommendations were fantastic. Then Sangria Sundays with half price Sangria, get the pitcher!! We split an order of biscuits and gravy they were tasty. Then on to the Tapas. We tried 7 different ones and there wasn't one we wouldn't order again! Incredible food coupled with Liam's service, we will be back. Thanks Liam for a wonderful experience for the birthday girl in our group. Our new favorite spot for a relaxing start to a Sunday!!
I ordered the Sangria, and it was good. I started with the "Datiles con Jamon y Chorizo" dates wrapped in panchetta and chorizo that came in a Prune sauce and garnished with mint. And ordered a side of goat cheese sauce that made the dish come together. Otherwise, it would have been too sweet. I liked it, although I couldn't taste the chorizo Spanish sausage at all. I also ordered "Higos y Queso de Cabra" the roasted peppers , goat cheese, fig coulis on a Baguette, and was a bit diaspointed for I really wanted the taste of the fig to stand out. It was still good, just not what I wanted. To end my meal I ordered "Alcachofas con Jamon y Manchego", fried artichokes with crispy serrano ham and manchego cheese fonduta. It was perfect and maybe what I should have started my meal with. The food I ordered was OK and a bit too saucy for me, for I felt that I didn't relly taste the main component of the dish, the dates, the figs or the artichokes. The presentations and the service were excellent! If you go there, go with someone else to try different dishes. I would definitely like to go back and try other dishes and hopefully rate the food better.
I am absolutely in love and will be coming back even though I live over three hours away. The experience of eating here was absolutely delightful and my sense of decorum barely stopped me from licking the plates after eating enough for two people. I had the jamón serrano, manchego, and valdeon cheese board with baguette that was smoky from the grill in a way that perfectly accentuated the spicy ham, salty manchego, funky valdeon, and tangy pickled vegetables, plus a delectable orange-anise gin and tonic that was slightly sweet, slightly bitter, and extremely elegant. The bartender was incredibly kind, although she declined my request to set up a cot in their storage room so I didn't ever have to leave. Atmosphere was on par with anything I've scene in Barca or Valencia, beautiful tiles and wooden columns along with chalkboards displaying specials and happy hour times. My only regret is that I have to drive three hours home instead of getting to take a nap after stuffing my face.
The melting pot that is this city really knows how to bring in the authentic cuisine that folks from across the pond know how to do. This place is no exception. Whether you've known about this place for a while or a first-timer like I was, it really adds a unique atmosphere with the small plates that it has to offer. The menu is quite the offering when it comes something for everyone in mind and the staff are very helpful to help you decide. The plates of the evening were : Caldo Gallego, Higos y Queso de Cabra, Croquetas de Jamon y Queso, Embutidos Mixtos. If you're quite the fan of trying new things like I am, then this place will definitely keep you coming back
For my birthday on Saturday, August 5, my best friend and I went to La Bodega during lunch. I had wanted to eat here for quite some time, especially knowing they have the national dish of Spain; paella. I was blessed to get the hearty and phenomenal tapa of: Papas bravas. I also got an embutido: tetilla cheese three month aged cows milk cheese from Galicia, Spain. Sadly I didn’t get the name of my waitress but her service and smiles were perfect. I definitely want to come back here again!
