I was very hopeful when I saw how accessible your website is when I decided to explore joining a gym. That led me to believe that as a wheelchair user my business would be wanted. However, your sales team, based on my experience, needs sensitivity training in order to communicate with individuals with disabilities about membership. The training could also help to eliminate attitudinal barriers toward people with disabilities. I contacted a salesperson at your Garland location on Thursday, August 10, 2023 by phone and shared very clearly that I am a wheelchair user. I asked on the phone very pointed questions about wheelchair users and bringing an attendant/caregiver to facilitate my use of the gym equipment. I was delighted when he looked forward to meeting with me on the following day at 10 o’clock. When I arrived, he remembered me from our phone conversation. From the beginning of our in person appointment, he looked to my attendant instead of me. My attendant redirected him as I am the customer. As he gave us a tour, I asked many questions, and he continued to look to my attendant every time he answered. My attendant, who was otherwise silent, continued to redirect him that I was the customer. He introduced me by name FINALLY! to the personal trainer and she immediately reached to shake my attendant’s hand instead of mine. My attendant then backed away and said that I was the customer. Later in the tour, I asked about fitness classes that I might participate in. The salesperson, totally underestimated me and said that I should just stick with aquatics for now. When it was time to sit down and talk about membership options, my attendant removed herself from our vicinity and conversation so that he would have to talk with me. He proceeded to talk about totally different pricing than we had discussed on the phone. I repeated what he said to me and recalled information from our conversation the day before. He insisted that I would need to pay the higher amount and referred to the higher amount reflecting my having access to purchase sessions with a personal trainer. I then brought my attendant back over because she would remember the price information from the phone call the day before. As she approached, the salesperson said, “she’s not understanding what I’m saying.“ Then he chuckled. Once my attendant was back in the conversation, he totally changed the story and said that the higher price had to do with access to LA Fitness nationwide. That was the first time he mentioned the word ‘nationwide’ in our conversation. Your facility is beautiful, mostly accessible, and new! I have two friends with disabilities who work out at this same location. However, due to the experience I had last Friday I’m not sure it’s a good match for me. I felt invisible, underestimated, and certainly not valued as a potential paying customer.
This is a good quality gym and I had a very good workout. Lots of equipment to choose from in a big, open environment. The music from their sound system wasn't too loud, employees were kind, equipment was clean. Men's locker room and shower was clean. Overall, a satisfying experience at this LA Fitness location. Ask for Geo!
If you’re a women don’t come here, I have been coming to this gym for years and today me and my boyfriend caught an old guy taking pictures and videos of women. My boyfriend told the staff about it and they didn’t do anything about it. One lady came up to us and thanked us for telling staff and said that he had been taking pictures and watching her since Monday. I’m so disgusted and upset by the staff, they failed to make women feel safe.
This gym and staff are incredibly disappointing. Not only did the manager fail to address a concerning situation where a man was taking pictures of women without their knowledge, but the lack of action taken by the staff was utterly unacceptable. The disregard for the safety and privacy of their customers is appalling! I cannot recommend this gym to anyone who values their well-being!
Paying for guest privileges just to not be able to bring them half the time the manager refuses to fix it he rather wave me in and save himself the trouble. Best to switch unless you want to pay for old equipment and a dirty pool.
The staff is good, the club is nice ‏But you should pay 50$ per month the amount is more than it deserves, 50 dollars a month. In addition to the annual registration cost of $50 per month, I visited some branches. Not all branches are clean all the time. In addition to cockroaches, there is no private employee to clean the pool
I really enjoy going to this gym, it's clean and there is always hand sanitizer & sanitary wipes for the eqipment. They could do a little better keeping paper towels stocked in the mens locker, but everything else is great. It's always very busy except for Sundays, but it never feels crowded.
This place is ridiculous, I can’t believe folks are still signing up. It’s sooooooooooooooo busy, “ALL THE TIME!” when you have a 9-5 work schedule. If your retired, or don’t work then perfect for you. But if you work a 9-5 then forget it! The cycle machines are broken, except one and there has been break-ins to cars and they don’t clean up the broken glass in the parking lot. The heat sauna smells like a** they are not cleaning and sanitizing it. There is only one cycle that works, they don’t fix their cycles. Staff is aight, they can do better with their social media. Yea they have classes but no one really goes, because they don’t really put it out there, as far as trying to get someone interested in going to a class. I will say this … the cleaning lady ‍ is great! She will walk around with her bucket and cleaned supplies and clean each machine. That I really appreciate. She makes me feel confident, in know at least they clean their old out-dated machines. HOWEVER… THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT ONE THING AND THATS THEIR PROFIT! Beware they will come up with a fee and charge you w/o telling you …Like the, “Yearly Fee Membership” but I’m already paying a monthly fee?!? … Why do you have to pay yearly and monthly? Just think about it … It’s busy AF all the time and folks like to hog the machines … Ughhhh ‍
Usually hot as hell and not the cleanest. It is a decent gym, but it is time for an upgrade.
They charge your card for no reason even after you cancel it. The stuff always busy with horse playing, and very disrespectful! Pool and Jacuzzi are crowded and dirty! Don't buy a headache for yourself by this membership!
