I'm updating this review as the previous one was based on our first night experience. We stayed two nights total and I really enjoyed our stay. The retro surf style is fun with just the right amount of kitsch. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The AC standard motel under the window type works very well. We like our room chilly and the AC did not disappoint. When we first got into the room we noticed that the sink drained slowly. The problem was fixed within an hour by a very friendly maintenance staff. The front desk staff was polite and very helpful, even in the middle of the night getting warm water for a baby bottle or fresh towels or whatever. The pool is teensy but serviceable and the hot tub served the purpose. The rates feel a little high for what you get, but I think all the hotels in Laguna come at a 20-30% premium just due to the location. Speaking of location, LBH is perfectly placed for a walking experience of the main part of Laguna Beach. There's a beach walk directly behind the hotel that takes you up and down the coast, and many restaurants, shops and galleries are just minutes away on foot. I highly recommend for a relatively inexpensive but comfortable place to stay.
My husband and I stayed the night on 6/17/23. We had such a great experience when checking in with Nicole & Marianna. They both had AMAZING customer service and gave our dog Cooper lots of love. He felt part of the family. The rooms are very clean and beautiful and the location is great. When we went to check out on Sunday, 6/18/23, Alain was superb with his customer service. All three of them deserve a BIG THANK YOU for making everything a great experience.
Laguna Beach House was great for me and my three daughters. Location within walking distance of some beautiful beach coves and restaurants. Boutique hotel offered cute rooms with a balcony and we enjoyed the pool each day as well. Wine and fresh cookies each day were a highlight for our stay. Would definitely stay here again! Rooms: Clean, updated rooms with many amenities! Worked well for 4 women to get ready!!!
Spent two nights here. The very next day started to see bites and several days after as well. No doubt bed bugs from this location. Most people do not realize they have been bitten until bite marks appear anywhere from one to several days after the initial bite. Let me make this clear. We stayed two nights and did not notice any bites until the next day after I checked out. This is all consistent with bites from the visit there. If you care about this please refund my card.
We LOVED Laguna Beach House. Staying in the LA area for a few days on the way to Hawaii from the east coast. We were looking for something on the coast, outside of the city- LBH fit the bill. We were impressed by the work done to turn an old motel into a cute hotel with a "surf shack" vibe. Loved the patio rooms especially the one with the private space!, the pool was great, and the SCENT throughout the hotel was lovely. When our flight to Hawaii was canceled and re-booked for the next day, the staff was so accommodating to book us for another night in the same rooms with the same rate- a lifesaver. Rooms: Cute, beachy vibe; nice scent, private patio for our king room Nearby activities: Beach, food, art, shopping Walkability: Right on the PCH, short walk from main streets in LB.
This hotel is overpriced and unimpressive at best. They charge a $100 amenity fee to use their pool and parking, even if you're not going to use it. The pool isn't even nice and is very small. They also downgraded my room but said it was an upgrade, it was not without even bothering to contact me first to see if I wanted to keep the reservation or offer a rate difference. Their website says they have the "LAGUNA'S BEST MINI BAR - A variety of local snacks and beverages in the comfort of your guest room." which couldn't be farther from the truth. The rooms do not even have minibars in them... If you want something you need to walk to the front desk and buy it, which is the last thing I want to do after getting ready for bed and/or if it's raining. Huge disappointment and false advertising. Also, the walls and ceilings are paper thin. It sounded like a herd of elephants was walking above me while I was trying to sleep. The location is nice but that's about it. You can do much better for the ridiculous price they charge to stay at this very mediocre hotel.
The walls here are paper thin. My friend made the reservation—we stayed for two nights on a non-holiday weekend and we could hear our neighbors’ conversations the entire time. It looks like an old motel that they didn’t really fully invest in putting time into. The amenities fees are ridiculous given that the only amenity is the pool area and it’s so low quality the pool is tiny, the lounge chairs are cheap and the hot tub was so gross I didn’t see anyone get in it.
Staff is very friendly. Great customer parking covered. Rooms are clean and great size. Just was disappointed to find they do not face the ocean and only the two corner rooms on the 2nd floor have an ocean view. The hot tub is great temp and areas kept very clean.Rooms: 4/5
Carlos and team made our time and stay here amazing. He put us in an ocean frint room. The room was nicely appointed and appropriately beachy. We got married on the beach in Picnic Cove, had dinner at Las Brisas, then back to hotel, all of 5 mins walk.Rooms: 5/5
We loved our stay at the Laguna Beach House. The grounds were impeccable, the location amazing, the rooms very comfortable, and the staff were so professional. I would absolutely recommend this hotel.Rooms: 5/5
