I remember coming here as a child but i don’t recall that it was this serene and beautiful. The only gripe is that there are too many people during the weekends. It would also be nice if they cleaned after themselves before they leave. Lots of places to rest, have picnic, stroll or relax. Lovely park with beautiful lake! It was also my first time seeing Muscovy ducks. They have 4-5 different breeds of ducks.
Just awesome! Such a great retreat within greater Los Angeles! No homeless people in droves like at Echo Park for example. Plenty of shade. Good place to take children to hangout.
I am sad. I grew up as a kid at this park. The state of this park is unacceptable. You can tell this place has had their Park Funds cut. The walk areas are unkept with tons of feeces, tons of flies, grass hasn't been cut, and there are street vendors everywhere. Not good.
It was my first time visiting this beautiful Park, the weather was so it's so many families having fun with a loved one's having a picnic, fishing, riding the duck pedal boats. The people walking their dogs on a leash it is a dog friendly Park. Plenty of picnic park benches throughout the park. It is open from sunrise to sunset. New admission fee it's a free bus a free entrance park. And everybody was so friendly if you want to take the family to have a picnic, oarfish with the kids or ride the duck pedal boats I highly recommend lake Balboa Park. Playground: Beautiful and safe playground for the little. Restrooms: Plenty of safe and clean restrooms throughout the park. Dog-friendliness: This is a dog friendly Park but they must be on a leash at all times while you are walking on the sidewalk through the park. But because the park is so huge I saw plenty of areas that you could be by yourself with your dog and remove him from his leash and let him run around. But please pick up after your doggies. Picnic area: I saw plenty of cement picnic benches throughout the park. They even had a few that were under a rock and roof structure with a concrete floor and for picnic benches under the structure. Great for a family gathering or birthday. You do not need to reserve them first come first serve.
A vast and beautiful park with a stunning lake. Flora and fauna are in plenty here! A lot you can do at Lake Balboa - explore the many trails, relax on the benches beneath lush trees, walk around the lake, enjoy a picnic, or rent a paddle boat, amongst other things. There's a playground for kids, too. Gets crowded on weekends.
Perfect place to have a carne asada with the family. Ride bikes or just a good place to take a nap next to a big tree and get some fresh ir. Parking is always packed on weekends so be ready.
We always love to go to this park when we are in the area. You can rent bikes , paddle boats and other equipment. Several food vendors are inside also which helps with the hunger after that bike ride. Dog friendly Dog-friendliness: Dog friendly areas and safe. Please always have them on their leash .. it’s not gated and there’s a river that they can fall in to. Picnic area: Several pictin area options in the shade and some right in front of water. Get there early for the best ones.
One of the best parks to check out in the valley in terms of stuff to do and amount of wildlife! Lots of different kinds of birds here, loads of ducks. Sooo many trails to walk or bike. There's even a cute playground for kids.
I remember coming here as a young teen... howevet, I don't recall this place to be as beautiful as today. Now, as an adult I come here whenever I got extra time with our dog. Playground: Perfect for children. Restrooms: Rest rooms are not bad for a public ones. Dog-friendliness: I have seen many different people with different types of dogs.
Great stroll around the lake. Lots of picnic areas. Friendly squirrels!
