This is a pretty neat place. It is basically telling the story of how lake Jackson and Dow chemical company came to be. Even has a small airplane hanging from the ceiling. There is also a section dedicated to tejano musician and star Selena who lived in lake Jackson for a while.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
Highly recommended to go and learn a little about Lake Jackson history. The exhibitions are separate per periods of time, which make it easy to appreciate the town development . The museum has a circle form. I recommend to start in your right side where is the Karankawa exhibition, in that way you are going to see the museum in chronological order. The next exhibition is about the Jackson’s family and then there is the stair there is also an elevator in the middle. Go to second floor and continue with the next era. When you finish upstairs go down and finish the second half on first floor. Special exhibitions are usually in the middle of first floor. The museum has a lot of interesting information. My favorite part was a plane that is hanging in the middle of the museum. It was the first plane doing with a special lighter material, that was developed by two Lake Jackson’s dentist. We spent around an hour. Admission is free and they sell souvenirs that help to support the place.
It is a small museum which features exhibits on the history of Lake Jackson. Very informative and well presented exhibits from its sugar plantation history to Selena's story and Dow Chemical, et al. We spent two hours in this museum during spring break. Really enjoyed it.
Small two stories but very cool very friendly staff. Don't forget to try your skills on the flight simulators. Don't forget to watch the video of the ghost and watch the video in the theater. And for the kids you can have fun with me scavenger hunt and on the first Saturday of each month don't forget to go visit the plantation site also. All and all it's a pretty cool place.
I lived in Alvin my whole life and have been living overseas and the East Coast, little did I know this is such a wonderful museum. So much history I never knew about right in my county . I would recommend for out of state and any tourist to visit here.

Says "Closed for a private event" on Saturday but there aren't any cars here. Wish we didn't drive here for 30 mins for nothing. Hopefully they'll be open next time.

Lovely little free museum they accept donations and I recommend a contribution. For a small museum they have two animatronics of historic figures that you never really see in these museums. I really appreciated learning about Mr. Dow, who platted out the town with a lot of circles and curves and also brought in Mid-Century Modern before it was widespread. Plan on 30-45 minutes. Highly recommended.
