Lake Monticello, a restricted access community, is patrolled 24 hours a day by its own private police force. At least one police officer is on duty at all times. Law enforcement and enforcement of many of the Lake Monticello Owners' Association (LMOA) Policies, Rules and Regulations are the responsibility of the Police. A staff of Security personnel monitors entry into the gated sections. Lake Monticello Police Officers are appointed as private police officers in accordance with §9.1-101 Code of Virginia, by the Fluvanna County Circuit Court and have full arrest powers and responsibilities. Police officers must successfully complete the Virginia mandated training prior to receiving State certification as police officers.
