Dr. Wilson is an angel. I was looking for a new OB after a bad experience with my previous OB after a miscarriage. Dr. Wilson was highly recommended by my friends/co-workers when I got pregnant again and I can see why. He's so compassionate and reassuring when I was having anxiety about miscarrying again. I'm so sad that we have to move out of state and I won't be able to complete this pregnancy in his care, because he's truly the best doctor I've ever had. I would recommend him to anyone. My husband and mom both attended some appointments with me and they both loved him as well. Dr. Wilson is the gold standard of OB care.
Do NOT recommend them unless you absolutely have to come here. The ladies at the front desk were ok; a couple were friendly, but the rest are meh. And I know this review is long, but I think these specifics are relevant to potentially everyone. First, my husband and I are not wealthy whatsoever, and we had to pay over $500 a month towards the pre-hospital payments. They said that was standard, and it was for the delivery doctor to be on call, or to come in, or something, which I’ve never heard of, everyone had to pay it, and there was no other option, apparently. Anyone I tell that to is floored. We were really struggling, and I was working, along with my husband, up until the day our baby was born. The only doctor I recommend is Dr Nicole Wellbaum. She was great, super friendly, helpful, patient, and did fantastic delivering our baby; her nurse could be moody, but definitely not the worst, and it’s worth it for Wellbaum; I saw the other doctors, and none were noteworthy, IMO. I had my first child here, and was obviously new to pregnancy. About 3 months into my pregnancy, I started showing obvious signs of preeclampsia rising blood pressure, severe swelling, protein in my urine, etc. My mom who’s had 6 kids, pointed out that she thought I had it, and after researching, quickly realized I definitely did, yet NO ONE diagnosed me. The swelling got so painful and extreme, I couldn’t wear shoes besides one pair of super loose house slippers, nor could stand long, and sent in pictures to the nurse on my portal of my swollen feet, that were so bad, if I crossed my ankles, the top of my other foot left a play-dough-like imprint in my other foot; seriously, look up pre-e videos of people poking/pressing their play-dough feet/calves- that’s what I had. All they said was that was NORMAL SWELLING, and still did nothing. Due to the pre-e they never diagnosed, despite all of the symptoms, our baby was born a month early the way your body cures itself from pre-e, and in the hospital my blood pressure got so high from the pre-e I was at risk for seizures, so much so, a nurse was very rudely trying to not let my sweet PARENTS not rowdy teenagers lol in at one point so my heart rate wouldn’t go up at all, and without asking me I wanted them there. I absolutely admire our doctors and nurses who sacrifice so much time and energy to be there… but, that does NOT excuse nasty behavior to anyone, especially a new, worried mom who HAS TO be there, and just just gave birth- It’s such a poor attitude choice. My mom has been in several hospitals around the country, and said she’d never experienced such rude nurses. Our baby came on a weird day where they had to change out nurses every 1-3hrs in the night, which meant every time a new one came in, I was woken up, and they needed to make sure I knew what I was doing. I’m a super polite person, and that’s understandable, but after the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th+ nurse came in telling me alllll of the exact same stuff again and again, I nicely would say, “Yes! Thank you so much, my other nurses told me the same things, and I’m very comfortable now, thank you.” And most of them gave me dirty looks and some snide remark, as if I’m a moron who couldn’t possibly absorb repeated information. Lastly, the hospital LKN Regional, where you’ll go, never filed claims through my insurance, and now, over a 1y 1/2 later, I’m still dealing with the complications. How does that happen?? They took my insurance card and said I was good; what happened?? If y’all can, check out Atrium/Novant. Every. Single. nurse and doctor are ALL some of the nicest, most attentive people I’ve ever interacted with, including all of the front desk ladies- amazing. And it really showed me how rough this place was in hindsight. If you’re going to potentially spend days in a hospital with complications, surrounded by strangers, and paying thousands of dollars, go where they give you a 1000x better experience! It’s not here, unfortunately.
Been going here for over 3 years now. I got positive HPT, 4 days later I started bleeding which was comparable to a normal cycle. They had me come in for blood test, my HCG levels indicated I was indeed pregnant, had me come back 2 days later it more than doubled. I was having cramping & random spotting after initial bleed. They told me it was going to be an early miscarriage, the bleeding & pain is what worried me. They told me unless I started bleeding really bad & having horrible pain they wouldn't see me & then if that occurred, they would try to work me in. I never once even was seen by a dr during this only went in for bloodwork and had to call and leave messages to even get the results. I decided I wanted to get a 2nd opinion as this did not sit right with me. So I made an appointment to be seen somewhere else & I am so thankful I did they were so surprised they hadn't checked for ectopic or done blood typing, they did a transvaginal ultrasound immediately & seen free fluid on my right side yesterday, waiting a few more days to check again to confirm if ectopic or not. They are so horrible here, STAY AWAY!
I had 2 out of my 4 children with this practice, and I wish I had had all 4 with them! After seeing the midwives who are no longer there with my last child, I decided to switch to seeing a GYN for my care since I’m high risk for ovarian cancer my mom had in her 40s. Dr. Al had made a great impression on me when I saw him a few times during my pregnancies, so I decided to start seeing him. I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Al! You will not find a doctor with a better bedside manner. He is kind, compassionate, empathetic, and he’s confident without being condescending. Knowing my risks, he has been extremely proactive with my health. He removed on ovary & my tubes this past week. It was my first surgery, and, while I was nervous he really put me at ease. I’ve heard wonderful things about the other doctors as well, and the nurses and office staff are all great as well! Highly recommend this practice!

I've been a patient at this practice since I first moved to the area. I've been with them through all of my pregnancies and deliveries and have been seen by their midwives when they had them, doctors, physician asisstants, and nurses. I have always felt so cared for and about. Despite not having the easiest pregnancies, they've helped me through each, every step of the way. I can't say enough about Dr. Arigo and the rest of the lovely doctors and nurses here. They truly care and are knowledgeable, able to give you the best care possible. Thank you all.
I love this place I have been seeing DR. Al for 13 years now I just love his bedside Manor. I have also seen other DR.s in this practice I can say I have had nothing but kind service every DR. I have seen has given me exceptional care I def would recommend them to anyone looking for good prenatal care or gyno services
First let me say this, I would give zero stars if I could. I started going to Dr. Wilson when I decided I wanted to get an IUD. I had the IUD put in and kept it for a few months. I decided that I wanted to get it removed because I wanted to take a break from birth control since I had been on it from the age of 14. When I went in for my removal appointment, I went in with my boyfriend at the time. We previously had conversations about this decision and knew that it was best for me. Dr Wilson was incredibly condescending and belittling during our discussion. When I told him that I wanted to remove it, he immediately started to question me on why I wanted to do it, and made me feel stupid for wanting to. He even turned to my boyfriend and asked “how do you feel about this?” As if it was his decision or his body at all. It didn’t stop there, after what felt like forever of trying to convince him to remove this thing from MY body, he said, and I quote “well, when you come back in a few months for your first pregnancy check up, don’t say I didn’t tell you so.” This was absolutely disgusting and unprofessional. I had a horrible and traumatizing experience with Dr Wilson and would advise any and all women thinking about going to see him to NOT. Side not- it’s been a year since I’ve started natural birth control methods and I am happy to report, I am not pregnant.
I've been using this practice for 18+ years and can honestly say the Doctors and staff here are by far the best in the Lake Norman area. As much as I hate to go to the Doctor any Dr. this office is always peaceful , calm and very welcoming. This type of visit can sometimes bring on anxiety however, the staff is always kind and efficient. I hate having to wait when I have a scheduled appointment and typically never have to. The Dr's are patient, compassionate and thorough. They take the time to explain, answer and discuss anything. Their knowledge in obstetrics and gynecological matters is beyond impressive. I strongly recommend these Dr's and this practice and would say they are the, " Best of the Best "
I’ve been a patient of this facility for 5 years now and I absolutely love dr wellbaum! I was diagnosed with endometriosis and she is so thorough and listens to every concern you have . I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER! I’ve had several issues with other doctors and the office manager has made sure to take care of and listen to all of my concerns. I do not recommend doctor Wilson, he delivered my daughter and was amazing but I recently came into the office with a large ovarian cyst and I had to see him because he was on call and he told me that the cyst wasn’t causing my pain and that my symptoms are psychological and that I needed to be put on medication. He also called me a “drug seeker” , knowing I have endometriosis and had a large cyst. I am SO THANKFUL for Dr wellbaum as she has helped me cope with my endometriosis as well as give me the answers I needed .
