A great place for a weekend getaway, or an extended stop as you travel full-time; Lake Skinner has something to offer for everyone. Boating, Fishing, Hiking, or simply spending the day enjoying the best of the California Inland Empire, Lake Skinner is your spot! Nestled in the Multi Species Reserve, the area has great trails for everyone, from light walks, too long hikes, and everything in between. The lake is stocked with Big Mouth Bass, Stripped Bass, Crappie, Catfish, Bluegill, and over the colder months starting somewhere between November and December, the lake stocks trout! As of this writing, Day use prices are $6 per adult, $3 per child 12 and under, with images 2 or less getting in free. Fishing requires a state license, as well as a County permit at $10 per person.
It is a great place for disconnecting from the world. Hidden behind a few wineries for some in town fun. They have 3 campgrounds, most with full hook-ups. It is a beautiful place for the family.
Winchester, CA Lake Skinner Recreation Area. So, I've been here only a few days now but I really love this park. They have really nice large, flat sites, full hookup, partial hookups and dry camping. I'm in one of the long term sites 28 days. There are bathouses in each circle that look nice and clean although I haven't used them. They have a camp store that is well stocked, although a little pricey, but that's to be expected with a captive audience. There is also a playground in Circle A that looks nice. There is also a laundromat and a cafe that is open during peak season which is not now Overall, great park and very good price. Oh, and if you are wine drinker it's in the Temecula Valley Wine Country with lots of wineries.
Beautiful little camp ground with a camp store and fuel island. Boat launching, great fishing, multiple play grounds, splash pad, good bike trails for the family to enjoy, boat rentals as well. Full RV hook ups, grass lawns on the outskirts of the camp ground, great for day use keep your tents off. Restroom, showers, laundry facilities also has group camp grounds. Is open all year and no fire bans as of now.
Enjoyed our stay! The lake is beautiful and there are lots of hiking trails. Bring squirrel food and go before it gets super hot. I rated a 4 because the picnic tables are falling apart. One of our campers sat on the bench and it broke in half.
The place is great and huge. The splash zone for kids is wonderful kids have a lot of fun and there's a lot of trees to sit under. There are a few picnic tables, bathrooms are very close by, great place for the whole family to enjoy. The only down fall is the entry price is per person not per car.
We absolutely adore this incredibly clean lake, we never have a poor experience, the wildlife does not disappoint, I can see fish everytime I come, just from the shoreline but mostly sitting on the dock, watching the waters dance, the staff is soooo great from Sonny the head Ranger and most humble of people, he lights this place up with his warmth, to the many Camp Hosts, bathrooms r always clean, Camp Store has a log cabin/country feel to it, Chantel is in charge if u ever need her--bait, reels, fishing poles, lures, snacks, drinks and beer, ice creams, clothes, suits, shoes, firewood...I know I'm ranting but the feeling I get when I'm there is a peace I rarely can find, especially in such a large area its still feels like a giant hug. Days r filled with people out and about, yard games and BBQ through until the evening, then u can't help but want to walk around and meet others at campfires to share stories, then crawl into bed with something as simple as a smile. I covet this place, they've won my
I gave this only 4 stars because it was raining and our site was flooded because it was not graded to drain. Otherwise this is a very nice campground. We went at Christmas time. Went fishing. Beautiful lake!
When we Arrived at the gate we were 14th in line. It Took 40 minutes to enter the park. The CG was very full, it was noisy all weekend. There were barking dogs, dogs not on leashes, remote control cars, electric scooters, loud stereos. People up partying till after 1am around their fires. It Appears all “camp rules” are ignored. Bathrooms were clean. Our Fire pit at spot was left dirty and had trash in it when we arrived. The park in general is very nice. This was our 4th time here and only time it had been so loud. Make sure you check out the camp store and walk down to the lake.
Many great memories here over the years, fishing, hiking, camping and boating. Check out the boat rentals at the marina or bring your own boat rig. Awesome time always for catch n release bass fishing. An excellent experience with staff at the general store for your camping and fishing needs. Soon my understanding the small restaurant will reopen near the general store.
