Lake Wales Main Street's mission is to build a more vibrant economy while preserving and enhancing historic Downtown Lake Wales.
Lake Wales Main Street was formed in 1987 by local residents and businesses to revitalize the downtown district. It was patterned after the National Trust for Historic Preservation Main Street Program. Lake Wales was one of the State of Florida's first recognized Main Street programs.
